Can I take it that we won't have a Float in the St Patrick's day Parade in Galway after all :bandit:
Why not ? A positive float to say thank you Galway.

When Eamon Bradshaw was telling Keith Finnegan about the parking, he said a Motorhome is classed the same as a car,
From memory I think Colin mc Carthy pointed this out to Keith Finnegan whilst he was on the show, so maybe that had an influence, but I could be wrong,
Delighted to hear the restriction has been rescinded. Heading there over next few days. Hope 8m long van does not cause problem..I assume that means vans can park in any car park space and is not restricted to the bays that were originally for motorhomes. Will keep y'all posted on our experience when we get there. Pity facilities are not still available though. Especially in this cold spell. (I still have cards for leccy from harbour office!!)

I think all the bays are small,i don't remember seeing MH bays, but if you go up near the end you car reverse over the path, you can only do that every second bay as they have big flower containers stopping you.

Great work Colin, I must also praise councillor Pearce Flannery who is a friend of Motorhomers, he worked on our behalf within the council to argue our worth to the tourism industry.

Will do in the morning Ken. My tablet doesn't go back to his last communication which he authorised posting on this site, about his frustration at not getting further with his colleagues in the council. An absolute gentleman who kept me informed throughput.

I was late for a meeting cause I couldn't get out of the jeep listening to it. Great to hear a reasonable and well made argument. Well done to anyone involved in flying the flag for us all.

Fiona Monaghan is the person with overall responsibility for the WAW, which includes Galway City.
As the person who developed the idea she should be well placed to request County Councils along the route to provide appropriate overnight parking places (Aires) along its route.
She appears to need some convincing that such facilities are actually needed herself though

delighted to hear the news about the docks in galway
can i ask anyone who has stayed there is there parking charges on a sunday, and can you pay them when you are paying the overnight charge on the saturday evening,so you would not have to move sunday morning early.
we stayed at the carpark in dingle and paid for two hours parking at 7pm.because the parking charges finished at 5pm,the machine printed out two hours parking from 8am on the following day so we did not have to move till 10am.

Does anyone know what the day time charges are for staying on Galway docks? I saw earlier that it was 4 euro for overnight 7pm to 7am ... I am wondering if its a meter do you have load it with euros to cover your time or do you pay when your leaving?

If you arrive after 7pm you just put in the 4e and you get a ticket to display i think that dose you until 9am,check at the meter when you get there.I think between 9am and 7pm its 2e per hr

Thanks for that Ken
We have a bit of a dilemma really, me wife has to be at Galway University hospital for 9 am tomorrow, thats why we are taking the camper as we live 2.5 houre drive from Galway, I am wondering now if the car park at the hospital has any height barriers? I know they charge 2 euros an hour there as well .. so we could park overnight at the docks and then park at the hospital if there were no Height barriers. Would you happen to know if they do Ken?
Thanks for your help.
