Looks great. You might find you will need to close off one end of it at least and maybe more of one side as I found with mine the horizontal rain we regularly still got under it. It was the engine bay in particular I found was getting in from the north. My original focus was on keeping the usual south easterly wind and rain out but as time went on I put covered more sides so it is pretty much inside a well ventilated box now.

I have a well sheltered covered patio area at the back of the house and I am amazed how often find all of the pavers well soaked over winter after any kind of storm. That mizzly rain just seems to drift right under it and helped with a breeze the roof may as well not be there! I’ve become an expert in annoying rain types since building my Motorhome shelter! The good old fashioned heavy vertical stuff is the easiest to keep out!

Hi David that is a real sturdy bit of kit,it will make some difference to keeping the roof from gathering that hateful gunge.

That’s a brilliant job David, it’s the life of your Motorhome and it looks very neat in its surroundings, I must get off my ass and do something similar

Thanks everyone. Yeah I’m delighted with it. Worth the wait, Christmas didn’t help,
Gavster, the games room completely closes one side, the trees to the rear are only 1.5 metres away from that end, the timber shed blocks half the other side, so the only open part is the entrance. I am awaiting events, to see how it fares, but tbh, keeping water off the roof is my main concern. It is a quite sheltered area anyway.

Daffy great job...did you build it yourself or did you get someone in. Can you give an idea of the cost?

A company called Carports direct. Based in Cavan. Breen Smyth is the man. Send him photos of your space and describe what you want. He will give you an estimate. If you wish to proceed he will do a detailed survey on site ( this is not free, if you don’t proceed) and barring any unforeseen issues, the price usually stands. It is not a cheap product. All galvanised steel, coated then to any real colour you want. Expect to pay in the region of €7-10 thousand, depending on size etc.

Mine was more like £2,500 installed but it is a lot more agricultural looking than yours and would just suit a backyard rather than attached to your house. Just 8 heavy duty box iron uprights cemented in, drip proof metal roof, spouting and wooden railing down the sides. I just went with painted steel rather than galvanised to save cost too. I put the spaced fencing boards and clear panels down the side of it myself to save labour. It was bespoke and not an off the shelf thing for sure.

Just ordered a pair of genuine front mudflaps for the camper....The amount of mucky splatter that gets thrown up the sides is alarming....A must have in our climate.

Mudflaps, think we could do with those.
MH was filthy when we got home today particularly where it widens out after cab. I don't remember that with last mh.
This evening it was hosed down to wash off the worst of it.

Not when it's dried in Rosemary.....Will still need a good soaking to remove.

We had the genuine mud flaps on ours, they were useless, perfect for a panel van but no good for the wide body on the back. I don’t mind the dirt, stones chipping the paint on the front of the panels of the habitation part outside the the cab doors was my problem. The genuine ones are too narrow and stones get past them while going around bends. I solved that by fitting rear mudflats off a small truck to the cab instead.

Pat. could you post a photo of what you have fitted because I don't think the standard ones will work to stop the spray back along the bottom sides of the Motorhome.

Was out a We run ourselves on Sat and I can easily say that when we got back home on Sunday our motorhome was in the dirtiest state I have ever saw it in.
The roads are dire with dirt and salt,no mudflaps will ever keep that dirt away.

Ours was the same after been away for the weekend, the dirt don't bother me, its stone's thrown up by the wheels, damaging the paint work that concerns me more.

I think you would need something to continue from the top of the guard all around the wheel arch something like the extensions you see on the mod cars.

Yes those are the same as mine, any stone coming off the wheel will be stopped before going over the top.

Do you think last w/e road surfaces were excessively mucky, even the drivers side.
I have to say the weather was excellent and I don't remember any rain but suppose recent Storm Brendan didn't help.
Like Panda we have recently changed our MH, our last one was A-class continuous line, in this MH the habitation section sits out further than cab, do the tyres sit out more and causing muck to spray up?

Stones were mentioned... Still have that rattle up around front, we cant trace, could loose stones be lodged, as I describe sound like a pebble in a jam jar sound.

It could be anything Rosemary, could be a screw dropped in some cavity when the Van was built, can you determine what area the noise is coming from, is it in it when the engine is running and the van is stationary or is it only in it when the van is driving?
