I'm proud to say that we visited the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky in 2000, what a collection of classic 'Vettes. (That was the same holiday where we went to the Grand Old Opry for the 75th Anniversary show... I'm just trying to remember who closed the show. Oh yes, Garth Brooks. Just saying.....)

The Ford Stainless Steel Trio

Back in 1936, Ford and Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Ludlum Steel teamed up to build a stainless steel Ford 1936 Deluxe Sedan. The purpose of the car was to showcase the extreme durability and aesthetic appeal of the new metal. Ultimately, a total of six stainless steel Ford cars were produced and put in the hands of Allegheny Ludlum executives in 1936, who proceeded to rack up over 200,000 miles over the next decade.

Ford went on to produce a total of 11 stainless cars over the next few decades. That amazing trio consists of:

Allegheny Ludlum 1936 sedans (Six produced)

1960 Ford Thunderbird (Two produced)

1967 Lincoln Continental convertible (Three produced)

Ireland was the first country outside of Germany to assemble VW Beetles......They assembled them at a VW franchise on Shelbourne Rd, Dublin from 1950 to 1973....So yes...not only did we sell them...we made them here also

Very good, well done.
The Shamrock was a car produced in Ireland for a brief period during the late 1950s.

The business was established by American businessmen James F. Conway and William K Curtis in Castleblaney, Co. Monaghan. The aim was to produce a large luxury car model for export to the US market. Alvin 'Spike' Rhino, a Canadian ex 500-cc Formula 3 racer, designed the Shamrock.[1]

Shortly after production began, however, design flaws became apparent. Although the car was big and heavy, it used a relatively small Austin A55 1.5 litre engine, which limited performance. The A55 also provided the transmission and suspension. Another problem was that the rear wheels were shrouded by body panels and a rear wheel could not be removed (for puncture repair for example) without dropping its axle. The car used fibreglass body panels and was styled as a four seat, two door coupé with removable hardtop. The wheelbase was 98 inches (2487 mm). All cars were painted white, although one in the USA has been repainted candy green.

Production of up to 10,000 cars a year was talked about but as few as ten complete cars were produced during the six months before production ceased. After the factory closed, the unused parts were dumped into the local lake, Lough Muckno[citation needed].

The car is now very rare, and only eight are believed to be still in existence: five in Ireland — one each in Killarney, Castleblayney, and Wexford and two in Drogheda — and three in the USA, one in Seattle and two in California

I was in a car scrapyard one day in Portadown and they had a couple of bodies and a few chassis's complete with engines etc.

Classic car weekly magazine was spotted and purchased after I seen the catchy headline "cheaper fuel for classic cars by 2036" - after Wheeler Dealer said petrol for Classic cars would be £5.50 a litre, a company has came back and said it will be £1.50 as they will have synthetic petrol by then.

The Renault type B is powered by a De Dion Bouton 450cc single cylinder engine developing 3/4 HP. It is coupled to a 3-speed gearbox, the 3rd with direct drive.
The length is 190 cm and the width of 115 cm for a wheelbase of 110 cm.
The car weighs 360 kg and can probably approach 45 km / h.

1961 Skoda Bus

The folks at Red Bull know how to do things, and a publicity teaser vehicle is always a good investment. At the Niemeyer Center they appeared with the Red Bull Tour Bus . It is a 1961 Skoda that in 2010 became a mobile stage with its own generator set and extensive modifications. The reality is that the appearance is the original (with obvious tweaks), although the interior has nothing to do with the original bus. Of course, the exterior chrome is still there, making the gadget something really spectacular. Precious!!!

What I love about those Spanish plates (and others too) is that, unlike ours, they give no clue about the age or place of first registration of a vehicle.
They eliminate all number plate snobbery.

Like NI plates, yearless. But we are slowly losing them with our vehicle licensing now in Swansea. Although still possible to change to a NI plate if requested.

Lovely all right, but it’s a concept vehicle. But the retrofit electric setup will be available for the original truck.

Ford wouldn’t get building that design in todays tough design regulations of pedestrians impact profiles in a crash situation. . Instead we’re stuck with computer designed rounds edges boring crap that all look the same and we’ve lost any classic looks that the past once gave us, hence why the older vehicles have such enduring appeal.

Boring is right, never thought about pedestrian impact, thought it was all aerodynamics and fuel efficiency.

Haven't seen a nice drool making new car in a long time.

At the price quoted that's €3450 for the motor. Plus battery pack I suppose.
I wonder when will the day come when there will be a kit that's suitable for the Ducato.

A coal-gas powered taxicab operated by John Lee Automobile Engineers in Keighley, England. The bag atop the vehicle stored sufficient fuel for 15 miles of driving (c. 1920s)
