Social Media version 1. I like what he is saying.

"The 2010s were defined by centralisation. Platforms such as Facebook, YouTube and Instagram are centralised social platforms, Google is a centralised search platform, and Amazon is a centralised e-commerce platform.

The handful of companies that became dominant in this world of centralisation have dominated the decade.

At Disciple, we believe the 2020s will be defined by decentralisation, particularly in the world of social media and community.

Social media platforms began the decade as symbols of a brave new world where we could all connect with each other and where every citizen of the world could be heard.

Today, the story is very different. Social media has lost the trust of not only citizens, but also brands and creators. Citizens are mined for their data and fed an endless stream of fake news and toxicity. Brands and creators are charged ever-higher fees to reach their own community and are drowned out by noise.

As we enter the third decade of the third millennium, social media has fractured the world, not connected it. However, if we look past the dystopic story of social media V1, we can see that online social networks have become vitally important for both citizens and brands and for society as a whole.

We all want to connect online, and the 2010s taught us how to. We just want to be able to connect in smaller communities that can truly reflect our own needs and interests.

I think they’re can be little doubt as to the extent of big brother surveillance in China today. What was once a terrifying dystopian idea, is now a reality for Chinese people. We’re lucky to be European.

Orwell’s 1984 WAS a disturbing read 20 years ago, alas it’s come to pass, even here in this country..... the generation has embraced technology (contactless payment/phone payment/social media tagging/geo-location/smart home) etc, the governments are pushing for a complete cashless society....... hence the move towards bank closures, extortionate fees for ATM withdrawals pushing us all the time towards a no cash society...... that’s exactly government policy, exactly where they want us, they then have FULL CONTROL over you, with the push of a button they can stop you having access to money/control/decisions..... look at Greece in the financial crash, citizens limited to €20 per day withdrawal, denied THEIR own money.... government had control. The only safe currency will be precious metals, gold etc..... many communities already hold their wealth in such and this will continue until control over that happens and becomes a capital offence to do so.....It’s only the beginning, a very dystopian future lies ahead.
Big brother has long since arrived, ‘O’Brien’ walks amongst us, Winston can rebel but will be crushed !.....
and our young generation are using the ‘speekwrite’ to comply, the telescreen to inform and news-speak is the new language.
Be afraid, be very afraid.

If you haven’t already read Orwell’s 1984 and indeed animal farm then go get a copy, take a couple of nights and see just how much it applies today.

Orwell got so much right. But I think he missed one thing. He imagined that all these cameras which were everywhere, were managed and analysed by a central agency (true in China). What he didn’t see was that it was us, the people, pointing the cameras at each other, and publishing for all to see. Whether it be a birth party, a concert, a drunken street brawl, there is always a phone pointed. It’s us doing all the spying on each other. The whole facial recognition thing is terrifying though.

Interesting at this point to see what happens next with him, he's downward spiralling at a fast rate.

On my way to work yesterday (yes I am an essential worker before you all start!) I passed a three car accident with the police in attendance, four passengers from one car were dressed in a manner and at a time and location, which would indicate, to me, that they were making a very unnecessary journey (t-shirts, flip flops, sunglasses etc). This along with noticing this morning that the roads and carparks are getting busier than they have been over the past couple of weeks got me thinking!

Would your insurance become invalidated in the event of an accident if you were unable to prove that your journey was necessary and you were in fact breaking the governments instruction to stay at home.

It’s a good question though. If you had an accident more than 2km from your home and we’re not travelling to essential work? 🤔

Although you can travel more than 2k to access essential services.

I got notified I need no extra insurance and can park for free whilst I am helping the NHS. (Council car parks)

That was an issue, as although not getting paid it is work.

The video above I posted. South Korea has been the best at dealing with the virus. Neither the UK or Ireland have dealt with it well in comparison.

So I was wondering to myself what Amazon and Jeff Bezos personally is doing to help the Covid 19 crisis. Especially seeing how Amazon, the worlds most valuable company, and Jeff Bezos, the world richest man, is seeing their profits peak due to the crisis. So what’s he doing?

Great work Bezos, you creep!

I thought when Trump halted the US funding to the WHO, about $400 million, that would have been an ideal opportunity for Amazon, if only for PR purposes, to step in and right the cheque. After all, Amazon are making way more than that because of the pandemic and they pay no taxes. Bezos has increased his personal wealth by more than $5.5 billion alone because of Covid! But no, nothing. They start a fund for the public to donate to his workers. You couldn’t make this crap up.
