I got the receipt e-mail showing QR code and type of sticker on 20/04 but still no sticker 27/04 how long does it take to arrive , I know the E-mail covers me so not worried but the sticker would be easier than having to show a piece of paper

Just for info for those not yet familiar with clean air/pollution stickers.

In France, the lower the number the cleaner the engine
In Germany, the lower the number the dirtier the engine

So a French 5 is more or less the same as a German 1, both represent the oldest type of dirty diesels.

Whilst opinion is that not many french drivers have a critair sticker, indeed we are just back from 3 weeks in France from cherbourg as far south as Limoges and saw few cars with stickers, have a look at this link.

https://www.connexionfrance.co…ow-drivers

Also the places affected are becoming whole areas of France (check the Crit air site for updates) not just the major cities. Worth getting one for peace of mind, and it is a one off.

Ordering one is on my "must do" list this week. We are heading to France in July with a plan for Roscoff to Le Rochelle and then return via Poitiers/ Tours and then home through Cherbourg. There is a good section of that run that is now controlled.
Paperwork is now a national pastime.

I ordered mine on Friday, received the confirmation email very quickly . It will be interesting to see how long it takes, hopefully it will be here before the end of May. I'm also going down as far as La Rochelle in early June. I will update here when I get any progress.

Lads,
1). I am going toFrance in July. I have looked at this, and just wondering is there an English language website to facilitate understanding/completing the application?. Totally at sea at the moment. Right now I think I will be circulation around Cotentin and Normandy.
2) see R&N’s query of 27/3’ stating that his certificate shows CO2 emissions as 999g/km. mine shows the same. Not sure of implications. Perhaps the year of manufacture will suffice. I might phone Peugeot Irl for figures??
Any info pl?

We had a similar issue.
I checked the certificate of conformity which was also unclear so i phoned Auto Trail and they told me which figure was correct. Maybe you will need to do similar..

My RegDoc also showed 999 as the CO2 emissions. I left that section blank when applying, and received an email confirming receipt of application and the issuing of category 2 sticker. Year of registration (2016) only seems to be ok for the later registration.

https://www.certificat-air.gouv.fr/en/demande-ext/cgu This is link to frenchgov site in English. Very important to make sure attachment is in pdf and file not too large. You can open pdf in word and save it as a reduced size file. As far as co2 emissions, mine is a Ducato 2009 engine, reg cert said 999 ie default as not used in Ireland, Fiat say emissions are 199, so when completing application I used this figure. However I think the authorities use Year of manufacture for their certification. Very straightforward using the link above, you get notification and temp cert by email very quickly and sticker in post within 10 days, at least we did.

Registrations issued by Shannon are for the most part works of fiction and bear little relationship to the actual stats for a motorhome..

Many of the mandatory fields are filled in by the lazy clerk holding down a key, a '5' or a '9' seem to be the most popular for some reason, instead of checking the source document for the actual figure.
A Cert was once shown to me which had about nine '5's (555555555) for the Max Engine Net Power, definitely more than a Jumbo Jet.
For the same reason, the figure '1' is often used for the GVW and the figure '2' for the number of seats.

I finalised application and got an acknowledgement to it.
1) I forwarded a copy photo of the certificate. I hope that is sufficient.
2) for category of vehicle I put down ‘light commercial vehicle’ . Must wait and see now.

As far as i can ascertain they go by th engine type. As stated previously anything up to 2005 approx is euro 3 standard therefore category 4. Euro 4 engine is category 3 Euro 5 category 2. Etc etc. this is for France For diesel engines

Year of manufacture and fuel type the key parameters, it's about particulate emissions, not CO2. Whatever about climate change, CO2 is a clear odourless gas that poses no immediate health threat to humans in open spaces.

Just had a look at the Umwelt zone for Düsseldorf, the Aire is just within the green zone and my van only got a yellow sticker. It appears that I will be able to get to the Caravan Salon but not park at the Aire to have a look at the city.

We are not long back from France. As you might expect there is not much evidence of french vehicles displaying a Crit air sticker. However the list of places subject to the regulation is growing and a recent french newspaper article quoted figures of prosecutions in the Paris area.

My view is that it is being rolled out slowly to avoid french resistance to it, and as a foreigner I feel it is sensible to comply, especially as it is a one time purchase of less than €5. The effect will only be felt when restrictions are applied due to a spike in pollution.

Although the sticker was first introduced in 3 large cities, it has been rolled out to cover whole geographical areas or departments as can be seen here.

https://www.crit-air.fr/en/inf…zones.html

This has implications, albeit likely to be exceptional, in terms of driving from say Atlantic Spain (San Sebastion for example) to Cherbourg. Your route may cross 4 Crit air zones. It remains to be seen how this might be policed, but for the sake of €5 it seems prudent to be as prepared as possible.

One further piece of information, if you try and move or remove the sticker, it is designed to come away in an unusable state and apparently the word VOID appears on the remains of the sticker.

No. It is currently €4.41 see here,

https://www.certificat-air.gouv.fr/en/demande-ext/cgu

There are other websites which will apply for you and charge a large sum for that service. Rather like the semi fraudulent sites which will apply on your behalf for passports, visas, EHICs etc.

Go to the french government site and apply. It is straight forward.
