Any "box" should work with any sat system. Sky or Fta

We have a snipe and have a FTA box but as Tristran has said, any satellite reciever will work.

If you need an actual sky box I have an old 12volt pace 1000 I might sell.

If I remember correctly there was a change made recently on the astra system.

The change was sent by OTA by sky to all their boxes as they are fixed dish systems. Mobile systems which are not permanently locked onto the satellite needed a software update. It didn't effect FTA systems.

George who I share storage with needed it done.

I think it was something to do with the dish looking for the old transponder. I am sure it could be done manually in the transponder settings if you knew how

George got his done by LTS who are advertisers on here.

As a snipe owner your sat box must be switched to send power from the sat box to the dish. If this is switched off your dish will not receive a signal.

Sorry, I don't use a sky box mine is lidl,s best. However, some where in the sky menu,s you will see an option to power the dish. Also have you updated the snipe from their website for the latest satellite positions.

Is it an older Snipe? The newer ones update automatically.

Well I was talking to Avtex, who make the Snipe, and they told me that it should automatically update, it's one of their selling points.

Try a FTA box and see if it works.
As I said previously in this thread, there is setting which must be changed in a sky box for mobile satellite systems.

Call Simon at LTS.

got this email from supplier today and tried it in on my old controller and it worked a treat, maybe of use to anyone that has bought from europe

We have got a notice from the manufacturer Selfsat that all Selfsat Snipe delivered in July are not finding the satellite Astra. However, there is no need to worry. Unfortunately Selfsat has not asked the control units after the final tests to the European version. You can set on the European version of the controller itself. Press on the controller the two arrow keys at the bottom center until the upper left corner "Home" flashes. Then press the down arrow key until "User 3" flashes and then press the OK button. Then flashes / lights GPS top right. Now please turn off the controller. The next time the controller is programmed again in the Europe version. You do not need to repeat the search. in july as well.

You will not be able to get the likes of sky and bbc etc off the Astra satellite down to the south of France and Spain, you can however link in to other satellites to get English speaking channels. It also allows non English speakers to tune into the satellites which broadcast their channels of choice.
