Solar panel fitted, now getting squeal in speakers??

Just had a new solar panel fitted to 2015 Van, sunny day today and we have just noticed a really high pitched sqealing coming from all speakers in the van despite the fact that ignition is off, radio is off, control panel on/off no difference, leisure battery or vehicle battery selected no difference, isolated vehicle battery no difference. Lift fuse on solar controller and it stops? Any experts know how to fix this?

I'd ask the installer first, might be a simple fix,

Agree with John, you might violate your warranty by messing at yourself.

Good work finding the root cause Roy!

As the lads have said, back to the installer with it. You may have a bad controller or maybe they need to fit an inline suppressor to deal with the noise.

Never heard of such a thing, very strange, and I've fitted a LOT of panels! Where the cable comes down to the regulator, does it pass close to speaker cables? Actually, was proper HD insulated solar cable used?

When you apply power (solar panel) to the charge regulator, it will create a small Electromagnetic Field around the charge regulator. (as with any electronic device). The harmaonic from this EF will resonate at a certain frequency. And if the length of your speaker cables happens to coincide with one of harmonic frequencies generated, and the cable is close enough, and the polarisations are the same ..... then you can pick up a high pitched squeal. More commonly known as RFI. (The power to generate the squeal even when all the power is off actually comes from the EM field generated by the charge reulator.)
Most devices in the home that can do this have the "Complies with the FCC....bla bla) sticker on it somewhere to confirm it has been tested not to do it.In your case , a lot of coincidences had to happen to create this. Usually a small ferrite ring on the speaker cable should filter it out.

Regards
John

Thanks for the great answers boys Some good tech resources on here. As an ex-tv engineer i especially liked John's!!
All sorted, panel originally wired via controller to van controller was introducing interference. Now rewired panel to controller to battery, buzz gone,,, happy camper!!
