Looking for a little support chaps and Chapess's
Bristol Council is Closing one of the Best Campsites in Britain which is based in the Centre of Bristol with direct river link to the City centre.

The local business's are looking for help with their petition please see below

Hi everyone
Bristol City Council decided behind closed doors to close Baltic Wharf campsite and use the land for a school.
The local traders didn't know anything about it until the decision had been made.
Know they now the traders who rely on tourism are extremely angry, particularly Bristol Ferries (who have a ferry stop there) and SS. Britannia both of whom say that say they rely on the campsite for their 'bread and butter' during the winter. A point that been totally disregarded by the council.
They only need 3600 signatures on their petition to force the council to have an open meeting about it.
It has enabled Bristol Ferries too keep running during the winter and therefore keep their employees on.
Its a great campsite and will be a great loss to camping if it is allowed to close
So please can you sign the petition below and send on to other forums etc you belong to.
Thanks.
Steph

This is an email from Lou Phillips of Bristol Ferries who has been arranging the petition. (please post on here if it isn't working so I can tell her).

Thanks everbody for adding your support

Fortunate to have stayed on the site. Super location. It would be a pity to see its demise

David,
Have you posted this over on motorhomefacts and motorhomefun? I would imagine posting on those sites would yield a very high number of signatures.

David that's great news and surely they must take note of that figure. I've stayed there a few times and it's a great place.

Just to keep you informed
The Caravan club has had its license extended from September 2015 to March 2016 with a sort of agreement that the club will be granted further trances at 3 months per time unless the council decides to do something.
Do hope that some of you will make use but getting on is still often a problem as it is one of the CC most booked sites
Little victories

Major Problem Baltic Wharf Bristol site

 ·

Just in case anybody is coming over and have been lucky enough to have booked on Baltic Wharf
THIS YEAR you will need to check before you are due to visit as Cumberland Road is partly closed due to the retaining wall collapsing,
It has only just happened so very unlikely to be fully repaired before the site closes

Latest

Many members will be aware that Bristol City Council informed us several years ago of plans to redevelop the area where Baltic Wharf Club Site is located. Fortunately we have been able to continue running the site on a renewable short term lease while they plan the redevelopments.

The plans for the redevelopment are now progressing at pace between the Council and the developers which means that notice could be served at any time, giving the Club 6 months before having to vacate the site.

If this happens, we will ensure that all affected members are notified in writing of the requirement to cancel their bookings, giving as much notice as possible to enable them to secure pitches elsewhere.

New bookings are no longer being taken from August 2020 onwards, and bookings for the 2021 season are not being released at this point until we have more certainty on the future of the site.

We are still continuing our search for an alternative location in the Bristol area as we know how popular this location is for our members.
