Shower not working?

Hi all
The shower in my van is giving up. When I switch it on, the pump is surging causing the water to come in spurts. Sometime the hot water comes on the surge and the cold when it is not surging, sometimes it is mixing properly despite the surge. Hope that is making sense.
Pump is working fine for wash hand basin and sink, so not that. I'm presuming it may be a problem with the tap itself.
Has anyone come across a problem like this and is it difficult to replace myself or is it a job for someone who knows what they are doing?

regards
Finbarr

Hi Finbarr. Are you sure you have enough water in the storage tank, "no pun intended" if your sure you have take off the shower head from the flexible pipe in your shower and turn on the pump to see if that take away the problem.

Thanks for the replies. I'm away off for the night tomorrow in the van so will try removing the head and seeing if that has any effect, but I fear it won't as it has been making a strange noise for awhile now and just getting worse. I think there is plenty of water in it as the other taps are working fine.
Ill report back over the weekend how I get on with it.

Well strangely removing the head off the shower and running it for awhile worked a treat. It is working perfectly now. Many thanks for that.

Finbarr, I'd say the problem was a buildup of limescale in the shower head that disrupted the flow of water.
