Hi All.

For information I received this email today.

The Cornwall Council (Off Street Parking Places)(Amendment No.3) Order 2012

Dear XXXX

Thank you for taking the time to respond to the public consultation regarding the above. All responses that were received have been duly considered and debated by the Council; the new Order was made on the 20th February 2013 and will come into force on 15th March 2013.

The practice of sleeping within vehicles has, for many years, been prohibited within Cornwall Council car parks, it was also prohibited by the previous District/Borough Councils, and this has always been stated on the tariff signs within the car parks. Unfortunately proving that someone is sleeping within a vehicle is difficult to enforce. The ban of motor homes during the night is aimed at making it easier to enforce this long standing restriction on use.

As a Council we wish to support local businesses and as such it is hoped that this ban will encourage people to utilise the numerous high quality facilities around the County.

Thank you for your interest in this matter.

Yours sincerely

This is one of the stupidest websites I have seen in ages....

Titled "VISIT CORNWALL" unless you are in a Motorhome, an actual "visit cornwall" website that also tells you to feck off at the same time 🇧🇭

Well it is starting to make me think.

One of the great freedoms and attractions of motorhoming is the ability travel around at your own pace and park up and sleep in your motorhome in any reasonable place where you judge that it is safe to do so and where you believe it is reasonable to do so.

Here are two newspaper articles from the North West that I noticed in the last week.

Sligo Champion:

http://www.independent.ie/regi…41145.html

And

Donegal Democrat:

http://www.donegaldemocrat.ie/…-1-5341761

The behaviour of SOME motorhomers is definitely attracting the wrong kind of attention and if it continues we will end up with ever more restrictions and height barriers and by-laws etc etc.

There is a real need for us as motorhomers - working through motorhoming organisations - to pro-actively engage with councils (like the example in Cobh recently highlighted in this forum) and try to get more facilities for motorhomes.

I think we should consider adopting a voluntary code of conduct for ourselves on what constitutes acceptable behaviour in relation to overnight parking / sleeping / camping

Just my two cents worth

A mate of mine owns a Motorhome center in Cornwall. I must ask him what he thinks of this.

My take on this is simply I spend my money where I'm welcome mend and wanted. I don't go anywhere else and that includes Portrush.
