Myself and FC had come to an agreement on his Bailey. A very well maintained van upon inspection, and a layout that suits us perfectly. We feel privileged to have obtained it.
To Mrs FC..... we will mind it... we promise 👍

Thank you Norman. We hope to enjoy it for many years. We loved the mobilvetta ....
but time moves on. A similar layout, modernised... but the transverse island bed is a huge improvement in the layout for us.

I’m delighted the Bailey is gone to a good home, it is lovely Motorhome, I got the grand tour at Vantastical 2015, I think it was when John and Angela got it first. Mrs Chausson is still raving about the layout since and I have to agree with her. David & Ben we want to wish ye years of enjoyable and safe travelling in it and can’t wait for the follow up Grand tour. We actually have the silverscreens of John and Angela’s previous Motorhome, I put them on the windscreen tonight, this is our second night away in the Motorhome this year. We haven’t gone far, didn’t even make it to a public Road😂
I hope John and Angela are replacing it, we haven’t met in a while.

Well not bought.... but sold, last week. Our trusty mobilvetta for the last 5 years almost. Sad seeing it go, but onwards and upwards. Collected the new to us van yesterday, and while no time today to Investigate, it appears to be everything we wanted.

Congratulations guys. Well wear. Well what did you get?

Nothing yet, the original plan was to take our time, but Angela burst into tears as David drove off, she loved the Bailey so much, so the hunt is on. One thing I have found though is that the couple of French dealers we contacted yesterday will not sell to us as we are no longer in the EU..... should have offered to sell them some vaccine to then say oh no you are in the EU so I can’t

German dealers have no problem selling a van to you, the French ones can’t be arsed with the paperwork, the Spanish were not working yesterday ( I should have known better than to try at a weekend )

I notice you are using a travel adapter from continental two pin to three pin.
A mate of mine who is an electrician removed the plug on his inverter and hardwired it to output directly to a changeover switch.
Me, I had a spare two-pin plug in the 'useful someday box' which I used. AFAIK Radionics in Dublin have a variety of continental two-pin plugs in stock.

Just temporary to test it out. I have a proper continental plug to wire onto it.... just have to find it in all the old camper stuff that’s in a pile in the garage.

Investigated the possibility of fitting change over switch so inverter can feed all habitation sockets. Plan in place. Maybe tomorrow.

David, little circuit I use to perform auto changeover without the need for a manual switch.
Using a DPDT 240Vac relay as shown and wired so the inverter powers the energising side of the relay it pulls in the contacts when inverter is activated , opening the NC side of the relay and shutting off shore power input and connecting the inverter output directly to the van. Means wiring the 16a socket in the van but this works well and I’ve done quite a few like this.
One thing to remember, fridges that utilise automatic switching from 240v/12v/gas thinks you are now on hook-up, you can isolate this problem by using a second relay to open the supply to the fridge thus preventing it sensing a 240v presence. These little relays draw less than 30mA so are ideal for this job.
Not even attempting to “teach granny how to suck eggs” so to speak, but something you may be able to make use of. I keep those relays if you need them.

Thanks Jon. I have had a look and I may spilt down the 230 v board, otherwise the batteries will be charging themselves through the inverter 🤯🤪. I’m undecided whether to use a relay such as you have described or go for the manual option with a switch. I rather like the idea of one dedicated socket from the inverter on one output, which is already in place, with the other feeding a selection, not the fridge, through a manual change over. That way I’m in control of what her indoors is using. 😜
