Came by some of these LED modules (they come in a strip of about 50 for backlighting signs)

Pretty happy with the three I did 😀

Nice one.

There's something very satisfying about seeing DIY jobs like this!

Don't say that you have rolled it again, or was it easier to fit with the motor on its side
:'(

Think it's easier for me to roll the motor than figure out how to rotate the pics!

Though I see a minion seems to have corrected the original :-)

Just had a look at it at LTS where it was getting damp repaired. They have done a good job. Got a gas check and damp test showed no more damp. They are fitting a manual gas switch over as I can’t be ar**d to get the spanner out to change the bottles.

I had similar damage on my van a few years ago and got a great job done repairing it in Bridge motorhomes near Kilkenny if you don't fancy fixing it yourself

Its a challenger and that is usually followed by numbers that sometimes correspond to the length. No numbers on the side?

"Challenger 696" example.

Doubt that would give you the model number. Perhaps all Challengers are the same with different layouts? No handbook?

If your back is to the wall, a good engineering firm could fabricate a nice steel bumper by folding some sheet metal, you could fit a pair of led tail lamps recessed into it. I made one years ago for a mercedes motorhome, I cut the recessed bit for the number plate out of a Ford transit rear door and welded it into the bumper and used the transit number plate lights. another option would be to fit the chrome number plate housing off the likes of a Rover 600 etc. it would look fine if it is tastefully done.

Collected the van from the upholsterers. Long round trip. 6 and a half hours including a short lunch break. However.... the results are amazing. We are both delighted with the finished product. A few pointers on here steered the initial conversation a certain way, but happy out. Will have a good mosey tomorrow, but initially we are chuffed to bits.

If you are going to fit LED rear lamps, just remember to put a 5 or 6 Omh resistor in line on both sides for the indicators, otherwise you'll get hyper flashing (ya know when an indicator bulb is gone on one side and the other working bulb flashes twice as fast). LED's offer no great resistance to the flow of current, so that's why it's important to include a resistor in the wiring. They're on ebay at €4 each sort-of-price.
Hope this info helps.

Absolutely Jon. We are dead happy with the van, plus it’s really a hobby for me. I’m not expecting to recoup all the money I have spent. But, I have a great looking, (IMO) unit, plus it’s reliable, comfortable, and very user friendly. Ticks all our boxes

Just got the cupboard stays back today from SGS who regassed them. I got 10 of them done for £104 and seems a good job. They were going to be £160 plus vat to replace. Going to get the 2 big ones done that hold up the overcab bed.

I’d like to know why so many are fitting these diesel heaters. Are you not happy with the gas heaters that are fitted in your Motorhomes. There must be some reason why the gas units are fitted to all Motorhomes as opposed to the diesel ones. Surely if diesel was better:safer/quieter/etc that would be the standard in Motorhomes

If manufacturers fitted the diesel heaters they would have to reduce the price of their Motorhomes and that’s not in their thinking or DNA?

Had a diesel heater in previous van. It was an Eberspacher. It was fitted outside underneath.
Very economical, great heat but noisy even though I fitted additional silencers.

Truama gas heater in this van. Very quiet but would think not as economical as the diesel.

Gas heater?? Ffs Derek Walsh charged me over €900 last year to fix our gas heater and do a Gas service. I took out the bed for him, the heater was sitting in the middle of the floor with complete access all round. When I went down the Mechanic said that he thought it was the board straight away, so you would think the first thing he would do is fit a board and it would either work or not, anyway Diagnosing and testing cost me €250😡
They fitted the wrong Board and we cannot use electrify on the heater anymore. Well he won’t catch me again, it would probably be cheaper to buy a new heater of the same speck.

Here's a quality brand Diesel heater for £500 on ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/123728936519

So basically there's no real price difference between branded diesel or gas heaters.
