Pretty scary stuff indeed. We avoided the worst of the deluge in France on Saturday night but it was very bad in places, we had moved to northern Brittany for the last few days, I don't like a long drive to the ferry on the last day. Friends of ours travelled up to the same ferry from Cherbourg from Les Sables D'Olonne had seen very heavy rain on Saturday night.
Very impressed by the dad's description and response to the whole drama... particularly the tongue in cheek reply when the French cop asked "If you're Irish, why are you speaking English?'
His answer? "It's a long story"
And there’s me moaning my camping chairs got wet overnight - a bit further north than St Jean de Monts. I see some extreme downpours forecast for the south ~ 30 mm.
I'll Whatsapp the show tomorrow morning for an update. Really hope they got sorted. Disappointed that he's giving up on motorhomes, (we could do with more like him)..... but fully understand his reasons.

From what I gathered listening to Red FM this morning, the family are heading back to Ireland on the ferry next Friday, in the meantime they're being well looked after at a hotel in France. The dad said they've been overwhelmed by the kindness and support both in France and County Cork.
