David, has your dog got a current up to date rabies vaccine? If not, I’m afraid it’s too late. There is a time requirement for this (a month I believe).
On top of that there’s mandatory vaccines required and your dog needs to have the id chip registered to its passport. Also a fit to travel stamp is required in addition to the above. On the return leg there is a mandatory worming tablet and a fitness to travel required too.

All the above sounds complicated, in reality it’s not. If your animal has all the up to date vaccines, is rabies jabbed and chipped with passport then all that’s really required is the fitness to travel check.

Ring your vet, they'll know the details. The biggest thing is that the dogs shots are up to date.

I can't believe I did not think about it before now.

What is a "fitness to walk stamp" , and how/where can I get one. I have been bringing dogs to and from France for years and don't ever remember a fitness to walk stamp. However, I haven't travelled since Brexit or since the Covid lockdowns. Is this a new thing. I have travelled direct from Ireland and also Landbridge. Are there different requirements going Landbridge now?

Thanks Jon, I am hoping to get away this year and I'm not sure if I should go direct to France, the prices are astronomical. So I'm thinking Landbridge, does the EU petpassport allow through travel both ways are do we need an Animal Health Certificate as well for land bridge, my Northern Ireland EU passport is ok going direct. Has anyone brought a pet landbridge, I would really like to hear their experiences.

ColinM we are in the same situation.
We have an old girl & decided to go Cairnryan & tunnel. We had her passport updated with NI sticker. That keeps her right for travel.
I spoke to our vet. He said she needs a worming tablet within 5 days of going into France. He didn't think she needs a fitness to travel certificate, but he always does one just in case it's asked for.
I would like to hear if anyone else has done it too & hear about their experience.

For the record

If your pet is entering France from a rabies-free (click here) or rabies-controlled country (click here), your pet must wait for a minimum of 21 days after the primary rabies vaccination is administered before entering France. (do not count the day of the veterinary visit)

taken from https://www.pettravel.com/immigration/France.cfm

So a period of 21 days, from a primary vaccination (no waiting period from a booster, which must be administered prior to expiration of previous vaccination), can travel take place.
