Just bought a new sat nav for the van. I switched it on en route to the Dublin Ferry and it wouldnt pick up the satellites. I stopped in Newry and got one from Halford.

Tommy....Used it tonight coming down to Norman View... Done its job perfectly and took me down on the best available roads....In contrast to my Garmin which will always try to take you on the L roads every chance it could! 😆

Jason.....Quick calculation of say even you only got 5000 cycles out of them...that would equate to a full cycle EVERY DAY for the next 13.7 years .....So theoretically they should last in normal usage the life of the van.!

Run Sygic for the RV, on a GPS enabled ipad. Best solution by far.
And agreed, the amount of times that I wanted to do that Tommy, I ripped the citreon one out of the berlingo and f*/$*d it out the window.... bloody thing probably still yapping somewhere.... rubbish.

As of this weekend I too run Sygic on a GPS enabled android tablet....brilliant altogether!

Diesel heater for me, the van needs one or I’m constantly needing hook up, it’s on its maiden voyage to see how it goes, so far so good, great work by the camper medic, I know there’s load’s of new members joined the craic club lately and maybe new to Motorhome / camper vanning, so I’ll say this, if ye ever need any work to your vans, be it heating,solar, electrical, seriously give this man a call or go on his website, top class job, tidy, everything all well hid outa view ,

I was travelling from Margate in Kent to Nottingham for a first aid course with a young lad from Pomeroy.
He was driving my runabout van and I had programmed the Sat nav.
At the first instruction from Kate he says
‘Turn that sound off, I don’t take orders from women’ 😂😂

Nice satnav Tommy .....Hope it behaves for you. Should it not....Let me recommend the paid version of Sygic truck/camper.... Especially if you have a tablet with GPS sitting around doing nothing... it works great with MPI app , Park4night, What3words etc....

Brian....Im new to this Sygic navigation but I bought it for 55 euro and its lifetime license. You can set the Height Width Length of your vehicle and its weight also. It will take you on the best roads Available which I like because my Garmon loved every narrow L road in Ireland 😅

You can also use it offline once maps installed which is another bonus once your device has GPS. Im sure like everything...it'll have its moments but compared to the co
st of say Garmin Camper dedicated satnav it's
Cheap as chips and so far has been brilliant for me. ... more experienced users can add more insights to its working

The Mount is a pop up clipboard holder that's integrated in the top of dash...pushes down neatly when not in use....ideal for holding the tablet

John I might consider that in the future. I was in a bit of a panic heading to the boat. I actually had 2 sat navs with me and both wouldnt work. I'm not really that bad im giving the other one a chance to redeem herself. I've shown her the hammer

As a member of sat nav cruelty we forgive you as it’s a load of s...t and you should have went or a road map on paper with the enemy reading the directions out to you ,you would have got there in the end ,but you marrage would have been over , then again maybe not a bad thing 😂😂🤪

Swmbo has navigated me all around Europe with a map before sat nav. When I say navigated she had the map on her knee with me asking to put her finger on a certain place, then another then another. Looking back sometimes I think it was easier, with the sat nav I'm never sure where exactly I am without zooming out and in. I still carry paper maps and do the odd check, with the map on her knee pointing. I used to have a fluxgate compass that never let me down, once it was set up properly

Just bought a gas regulator as the Truma one in the van wasn't letting any gas through. We have been surviving in the mountains with electric only and as the water heater is gas only it was a problem. Luckily we were at a campsite for showers etc. Checked on line and found a guy
In Albertville who builds vans. He stopped what he was doing and fitted a new one for €20, needless to say he got a tip.

Ha! One step ahead of the posse....heard that diesel was going up last weekend, took a jery can up to the garage and put in 50 euro worth at 1.76 a litre. Handy to top up the camper. Next day it was 1.81. A saving of a couple of euro. Tonight I see we're getting 20 cent a litre off. So 1.61 a litre. An overall loss of about four euro.
Advice on setting up a go-fund-me page appreciated. ☹
