We got it fitted (hard wired in, although you do not have to). I am afraid that I am not at all technically minded so have to disappoint you if you want a techie write up!!! :lol:
Welcome to ask me questions though, I will do my best to answer but keep it simple?!! :love:
What I can say is how brilliant the customer services/help dept are in Filey! Had a bit of difficulty re sim card (supplied by Giff Gaff) but I was talked though it and anything else we needed to know.
If you do not want to hard wire it, it really is simple to just fit and go......(super strong magnet!)
Very pleased with it.

Saorview means free view in Irish. A walker combi box allows connection to TV channels via motorhome aerial both in Eire and England by just retuning. It's the only means by which one can access tv stations since the old analogue service was switched off in Nov last.

Is the Irish Saorview box differnt to the English freeview box?

UK freeview is MPEG2 - Irish freeview is MPEG4

MPEG4 is backwards compatible so will do both, but a MPEG2 box will only do UK freeview.

Now this is all getting too technical for me. I've just got the bog standard dome and a sky box whatever that is but I can get Dad's Army and Father Ted on it and I'm happy.

If you have a dome you have no need to worry :)

But it's typical of the UK to pick an old technology on their switch-over to digital, rendering most UK freeview boxes useless in the South.

At the NEC Show I bought a Lotus BBQ Grill. Although they are not cheap they appear to be a fantastic bit of kit and very economical as well on the charcoal. Have a look at it www.elagproducts.com

I am getting leaflets for it so if anyone wants one pvt me with your address and Ill send it to you. I might even get the distribution for it for Ireland - who knows now that I'm retiring shortly!

Oh and it looks like a good alternative to the disposables which never light properly or the gas burning alternatives.

Fat controller I'm semi retiring but in many ways would quite fancy selling a Motorhome product going round shows etc as a hobby. One never know!

Jag in don't think it's the same thing although I may be wrong. It uses Charcoal and as far as I know the Geroge Foreman uses electricity.

See me, (as they used to say in Belfast), big spender.

Bought a dinky little thermometer from Lidl last week. It has a little clock/alarm but it more usefully displays inside and outside temperatures. £3.99

It replaces the previous one whose exterior sensor I managed to geld with the drivers door!! :sick:

Well, it's all a bit sad really. I have reached that stage of life were there are very few things that I want, and even fewer things that I NEED.

The motorhome is one of the areas that is typical of this situation. Very little that I can justify spending on that will warrent the use.

I do have a strange addiction to Lidl though, (sad or what). I regularly check out their site for the latest 'offers' and look forward to 'headlight day' and 'wipers day'. My garage always has a plentifull stock of H4, H7 bulbs and complete bulb kits. It probably satisfies the feminine side of me and their need to shop!

I had bought one of these temperature guages a couple of years ago on impulse, and set it on the dasboard of the Transit with the external sensor fed neatly round the trim and out the drivers door, but last year I somehow closed the door and killed it.

Did it serve a usefull purpose? yes slightly, interest in the weather being paramount in my job as an outdoor education instructor.

Did it need to be replaced? probably not, but you see I have this strange addiction to Lidl and.........

Ok, in addition to the brilliant tracker that I posted about a few weeks on this post , does buying aids to help get on internet count?!
Now that I have ended my expensive Vodafone contract, I need to get internet whilst away (uk and Europe including the Republic!).....so been looking at mi-fi. Now allergic to contracts :lol: I am considering buying a Huawei mifi, unbranded, not just unlocked. Then I can buy a sim card for UK use and an Europa Sim also for overseas. http://www.europasim.com/en_GB
I am not computer savvy, lol so wish me luck on this one!!
Also bought very cheap flashing lights so that everyone think we have an alarm...lol, in actual fact we just have 3 resident Rottweillers (aka as Yorkies!) :o

I'm not a high reck person either but I bought a wi fi thing that I put on the side of the motorhome (Ally has them in his shop on this site) and a router in the van and Ive been able to pick up free wifi from BT hotspots here and in Uk and also down South and believe it or not had free wifi in France as well. No contracts or anything. Have a look at it, I highly recommend it.

Just purchased a new 150 watt solar panel form Simon at leisure technical solutions.Tried it out this weekend and delighted with its performance.Little sunshine but the battery voltage did not drop below 12 volts even though we used our blow heating and lights.

Ally this was my first post on motorhomecraic after a few attempts. Very impressed with the panel.Before I left home the batteries were charging at an impressive 14.8 volts in hazy sunshine.

Jack you are correct but not as effective as in bright sunshine.Bright sunshine it is charging the batteries at 14.8 volts but reduces to approx 13 to 13.5 volts in hazy or cloudy conditions.

I think it is more to do with light intensity.
We got 9.6 amp from our panel in leucate last summer. That is the most I have ever seen it produce. We would get about 5 or 6 amps in summer at home if we are lucky.

Well I have bought an aerial, not one of those fancy wifi ones, a radio one. The reason, well :whistle: :whistle: I caught my coat on the one on the van when I was washing it on saturday and I snapped it off 🇧🇭 🇧🇭 🇧🇭 Only for the fact there is a hole in the wing I would have fitted a magnetic one or something. Talk about feeling a right tw*t doing something so stupid.

Getting a 100watt fitted, my Sargent PSU has the facility to take a panel but only up to 100watt.

I reckon a 100 watt will be plenty.
