D'old Volvo passed 260,000 miles today. Bought it 10 years ago for €2,950 with about 155,000 miles on the clock. It still provides long range motorway cruising at 120km/h in leather clad comfort at nearly 50 mpg

Bit like my son,he bought an old Citroën 4 years ago for £500. Cost him buttons to run and needed nothing. He turned down £350 for it lately

Oil consumption is zero and if there is no bacon on the road in a moment of madness it will still go straight to a hundred and beyond 😁😁😁
It's the Sport version https://www.parkers.co.uk/volv…-4d/specs/

I had an S60 for about 3 years, bought it for €800, the original owner had paid more for the car phone that was fitted, took its own SIM card, number pad on the dashboard, could read text messages in the instrument binnacle (but not while moving because it's a Volvo), a speaker for the phone integrated in the drivers headrest and of course a privacy handset in the storage box under the armrest for when you needed to take a call without the passengers hearing. Ford era Volvos were, how you say? sh*t! but the current Chinese owners have let Volvo concentrate on making Volvos instead of badge engineering Fords.

I bought a 2002 Passat 1.9 PD 130bhp in 2006 in England at 80000 miles with full service history,
Its currently parked at back of the turf shed since February last year with 260k and running as sweet as a nut, the only reason I parked it was I had to get a van for work,
Has not used oil or coolant between the 10k mile service which I did my self,
Its part of the family if that makes sense

I did bangernomics for most my life, my first car was a volvo 66 that I bought for £90 which had 120,000 miles and worked great with regular services until it hit 245,000 miles and spat out a piston on the M3 motorway in the UK. Since then I never got more than 20,000 miles on a car before it was uneconomical to repair.

In my 40's I was earning a few bob and bought a new mercedes E200, this did a great job until the timming chain decided to jump a couple of teeth at 380,000 kms
