[mmgr]Build during covid lockdown march to july 2020. Full offgrid set up with shower, 3 bunks and a slide out double. Swivel front seats give a spacious lounge. Been to alps in july 2020 and she was brilliant. Pics shortly

Tell me Hymer, with the factory-built side window, does that mean the van was originally a crew cab? And if so, did the 13.5% VRT still apply to the conversion?

no rambler, i put the windows in, it was an empty van.. Its NI reg so no tax to pay on conversion. DVLA do not register self builds anymore as Motorcaravan, just 'van with windows'.
Brilliant job. I wish I had the skills and the nerve. The nerve being telling the missus that I'm selling the MH and buying an empty van. Having had MHs for years I think I know what I would want in it now and how I would want the layout

thanks tommy. Thats what I did. Had 4 factory built vans. First time doing my own. Its very time consuming but very rewarding..im youtube taught lol
Top class van, that’s a lifetime camper, sitting on a crafter as well, brilliant job, well done
thanks a lot relay racer. Yes the crafter is great to drive 5 cylinder 2.5 tdi. even with conversion it still flies along too easilly...as the lincolnshire police kindly informed me when I was heading to tunnel last august! Lots of power for mountains, which is one of my criteria, we spend a lot of time in alps each year and my last two MH struggled up mountains especially on the tighter roads

Well Done Kevin, you did a brilliant job especially the shower /toilet, it will keep you going for a long time, should be easily remodeled when the children don't want to travel with you, having had a Sprinter, that size of van makes a very comfortable van for Two & 1/4.( staffie ). What year is it, looks in great nick,

thanks sprinter. Its 2012 with 140K. Engine is 5 cylinder and strong. I will keep it for a couple of years until the children are older, still in their mid teens and sell on to do another fresher one as a 2 or 3 berth. Took a lot of hours though as Im not a tradesman! Maybe a bit faster next time...
