Where to buy 10mm S/S Black Gas Pipe

Hello there,

Any suggestions where I can buy 50/60 cm of 10mm S/S Black Gas Pipe for a modification of the gas line on a German motorhome?
Similar to this:
https://www.fritz-berger.de/ar…xtor=SEC-9[500_Shopping_DE_in_Stock]-GOO-[Gasregler_Gasschlaeuche]-[b]-S-[114090]&gclid=EAIaIQobChMImOOVnvW-7gIV2N_tCh1nswLXEAQYASABEgLj6PD_BwE

Unfortunately this particular item cannot be shipped to Ireland.
I don’t want to use a copper pipe with the Truma MonoControl regulator as all couplings are S/S.

Thank you in advance,

Karen

I'm reading S/S as stainless steel, correct me if I'm wrong, but the product you linked is galvanised steel and plastic coated which is not the same thing.

Yes BM, you are correct. It is galvanized steel (DIN 239)
Thanks for the link.

Just curious, but what would happen if you used copper tubing? Would it react with steel fixings somehow?

The other thing is that there is usually a generous application of PTFE tape on any joint so if you use copper, the dissimilar metals should not be in contact but ask your gas installer to be sure.

At a molecular level, when two dissimilar metals are in contact an electrical circuit is formed and electrons move from one to the other, the electrochemical series tells you which metal loses electrons which is oxidation or corrosion. The metals dont necessarily need to be in direct contact, they just need an electrically conductive substance connecting them, can be another metal or water😲.

With galvanised steel, the steel is coated with zinc which is lower on the electrochemical series and is in effect sacrificed before the steel oxidises. With stainless steel or anodised aluminium, an oxide layer forms on the surface which is non conductive and breaks the circuit.

Thank you but it is not S/S. it is galvanized steel with a plastic cover.

hi, i just wondered if the OP , might mean 8 mm pipe?
Does 10 mm sound right for a motorhome ?
it may be 8mm steel with a coating?

Not sure if correct but I read that steel fittings with copper pipes are only certified up to 25 mbar and the standard in motorhome is 30 mbar.

Regardless, I just wanted to keep the installation consistent with the same fittings and pipe material as originally installed.

10 mm is correct. all my gas pipes are 10 mm with the exception of the one leading to the truma combi

Sorry , I foolishly assumed an "elderly" German van - needing repair.
