That’s the start of it now, post-Brexit. Freight only though

The new craft, the Stena Foreteller, will offer an additional 3,000 lane metres of freight capacity per trip and can accommodate both accompanied and unaccompanied traffic.

It will also have on board facilities for up to 12 drivers.

May take some pressure off the passenger capable services but won't do anything for MoHo's directly

What a shame it's only freight. A lot going on with the ferries who knows what the future holds. 2021 should be interesting

The way I look at it is this. The more ferries, the more options. They state their fare, nobody puts a gun to our head, saying we must book. If you are willing to pay, off you go, if you’re not, stay at home. Plenty to do here, plenty to do there.

Daffy for me you have hit the nail on the head. Couldn't agree more.

Not guna pretend I know a lot about ferries and stuff because I dont but think I heard there on euronews that d f d s port manager reckons they are going to increase crossings from 6 a week to 30,from Ireland to Spain and france, if that’s a cause for optimism .so hauliers can bypass Britain ,that’s what it sounded like?

Stena Embla which is a new ship destined for the Belfast - Liverpool route has been filling in on the Rosslare - Cherbourg route to increase capacity before entering service on the Belfast - Liverpool route. The Horizon is currently undergoing maintenance but we could see a longer term switch to a bigger vessel.

Meanwhile, its sister ship the Stena Estrid, which has been doing Dublin - Holyhead for the last year, is now penciled in to do a new weekend Dublin - Cherbourg route, this is a big upgrade for passengers v's the Horizon and a proper alternative to the WB Yeats if more onboard facilities make it a better journey.

A better-looking deal than the WB much more open public areas.
