Motorhome has been on the charge, but both the leisure battery and the engine battery are flat. Mains sockets are working okay when plugged in to EHU. Any ideas please?

sounds like the charger unit is knackered

John you have such a lovely way of putting things!

Have you checked
1.Has the switch on the charger been knocked off
2. Is there any light showing on the charger
3. Is there a fuse you dont say what the charger model is

You may get help/manual from here

I’m having one of those days and the gremlins are affecting everything I try to do, including put info and photos on re charging unit etc.

The charger unit is a Maypole MP7428 and it is now showing an error light. I’ve disconnected it and I’m checking to see if the leisure battery will charge on another charger.

Tried jump leads on the engine battery to no avail. Wine o’clock may come early today!! 😂

Very unusual it is not what you would expect as this is simply a car charger and not really what I would expect to find.

The battery charging is usually carried out by the Control unit which show the battery charge system ., contols lights etc mounted on the wall somewhere.

I doubt that the Maypole can cope with multiply batteries at the same time like the much more expensive fitted type.
You would be better trying to find out what is the matter with that, looking for a replecement (Try E-Bay a few used on there) or maybe someone on here knows someone who could check it out for you.

The Maypole may not be able to cope with a totally flat battery dont know but can suggest that you look at this one which can
if you are looking for another just to charge a battery, again however will do one at a time

Can you recommend a charger to replace the Maypole?

I already did if you just want a charger to charge the batteries off site , If you want one that is permanently in use in the van whilst away say on a site you might need to spend a bit more.
Maybe something like this

Would suggest that it was fitted and tested by some one qualified.

Did find this

might be of help
