General motorhome help

 ·
Posted: 05.07.2020  ·  #1
Hi guys,

I live in Belfast. I have recently bought a motorhome but I am a total noob, and the seller isn’t very helpful. I also don’t have a Manual or anything. What I am after is someone I can meet up with to help me with all aspects of the motorhome and show me how to do certain things- I am willing to pay for your time if anyone is interested in this. I don’t want to take it to a mechanic as it is literally just silly questions such as how to charge the leisure battery etc and fill it with water. Anyone willing to help set me up I’d really appreciate it 🙂 also easy way to make some money if anyone with general motorhome knowledge is interested?

I’m sure someone close to you will help you out. I’d be gobsmacked if they charged you for it. Best of luck

I took it out for first time this weekend and everything worked fridge etc except the Electric sockets, it has solar panel energy but I’m not sure how to work it all yet.

The sockets will only work when you are plugged into the mains via the connection on the outside of your van. I have a mobilvetta, unfortunately I am in Wexford. The solar panels just keep your leisure batteries charged. Unless you have an inverter and it’s wired to power your sockets. That is very heavy on batteries though

An inverter, but you will need good leisure batteries to work a heater,Im sure the heater thats in the van will work on gas. Also 12 volt TV is an option

Maybe pop into Simon in leisure tech solutions. His new address is on here. He will explain everything to you. He will charge I’d guess, but by all accounts he is a very straight man to deal with. That way you will get all the correct information, without having to troll through everyone’s opinions, be they correct or not

Simon will advise you on what you do and don’t need once he sees your van. He can also supply and fit whatever you need.

With regard to the TV as previously mentioned a TV which runs off 12v is a much better option than one that needs an inverter. The inverter needs more power alone to get up to the 240v when idle that most 12v TVs use. Avtex are known to be the best for the Leisure industry

Cello is now gaining a good reception as well on many forums

Often ones can be found secondhand

It's a personal choice, but I prefer the ordinary domestic stuff powered by a small sine wave inverter.
Example, my two 220v tv's (way less expensive than special 12v stuff), sat box, various chargers, 12" desk fan and LED table lamp all run off a 150 watt inverter, simultaneously if required.
Heating is by gas unless I get an EHU.

Better to save your money, go to a site and ask a fellow motorhomer. We all learn from experience and each other. Better still come to a Craic meet and there will be plenty of advice.

Hi,
I own a Mobilvetta Euroyacht A Class and do not live too far away from you so would be very willing to help you out.
By the way you have got yourself one of the best on the market. In my opinion of course and I am biased.
