So, who noticed that your phone's, Android and iOS all had a software addition last week for contact tracing? Maybe just UK. Android- settings - Google - covid19
iOS, settings - privacy - health.

Sneaky barstewards.

Yeah, its software to enable a tracing app if you add one. Still sneaky, but in the T&C's aparently.

The fact that we are all so sceptical of what could be a worthy feature to help mankind fight a pandemic speaks volumes. And all because tech companies have become our big brother, and governments love it.

That's strange. My is an iPhone 6s and it prompted me to update.

The E.U. is backing an “anonymized” approach to tracing, apparently. That means they’re using Bluetooth only tracing. As opposed to WiFi tracing, which allows your GPS coordinate, that is your location in space and time on this planet, to be fully known for here and evermore. Think about that for a moment please. An anonymized approach sounds sensible. But I can still recall Edward Snowden advising that it is not possible to anonymize your Bluetooth data in terms of this pandemic.

Is that true? Let’s see.

I took the plunge and downloaded the HSE contact tracing app. As it is based on Bluetooth and is not location aware, I am not overly concerned about privacy issues.

I would be more concerned about the phishing and smishing scams based around Contact tracing and COVID-19 at the moment.
