I was cooking in the van oven last night and it did a good oul job, but I felt some heat escaping from the top of the door. When the door is open you can see from the photo that there seems to be a small strip of rubber seal missing. I don't know if this is meant to be like this, or someone has cut it.

Anyone know? Thanks.

Its ment to be like that our Belling in the house has the same set up.
if you look closely you will see the two little holes where the rubber terminates.
I dont know why, but I think, it may be to allow steam out in order to see trough the door.

Our Belling in the house has a full rubber seal on both ovens!

Not to confuse the issue but our motorhome oven has continuous seal....I think it's a case of some do, some dont....both types work fine and dont lose sleep over it👍

I used it the other evening as the house oven failed and it's taking a few days for delivery of a new one. Done a fish pie in it and it was cooked to perfection right enough. But if you feel along the top of the door where the rubber gap is, you can feel a lot of hot air escaping from that strip.

Wife was not happy as she's a vegan and you could tell i'd cooked a fish pie in the van, like really tell!

So i guess if it's working then it's really no big deal.

Could you not fit a piece of oven rubber to seal that gap?

The gap is there for a reason

Of course you could BUT, if the oven is designed that way then what?
if have fitted several oven door seals and on all of them there is a small hole on the four corners, where the retaining clips fit into, even on ovens with U shaped seals that are fully open on the bottom .
The oven with the gap in the seal has extra holes, 4 corner clips and 2 terminating clips one each side of the gap.
So the gap was put there for a reason by the manufacturer.
It may have something to do with the gas oven?.

Well flame needs air to burn so it may just be an air intake, just a thought as I know little of gas appliances
