Should we start a competition to see who can have the best looking lawn with all this time we now have on our hands?
You can probably see I am getting bored already.😞

Have done that up about 2 years ago, the top goes black but it's thriving underneath, thought about renting a scarifier but I think I'd need a JCB to shift the stuff afterwards ( 1and 1/2 acre garden )

If that's your lawn prove it by digging a square out of it and shoe the pictures.it will be easy to do the repair😁

Yip, the top went black but still thriving underneath. Raked out about 2 sq metres and probably have enough crop to fill a wheelie bin.
I need a plan B. Next door neighbour is a landscape gardener so I might see if he’ll hire me a scarifier otherwise I’m going to end up looking like Popeye

We are on a beaten docket as they say in the north. The dog pees on the grass leaving lots of burnt circular patches all over the lawn.

Scarifier is the way to go,have just sprayed my own garden so need to give it a few days to kill the moss before getting into action.

Being afflicted with the dreaded moss invasion I have just done an application of a product which requires the dead moss to be raked out :(
Now I've seen https://www.howtogarden.ie/law…scarifier/ which looks like it's just the job. No raking or scarifying, it turns the moss into a fertiliser for the grass :-)

The petrol scarified fairly pulls up the thatch and moss. A handy tip I found was to use a lag blower to blow it into piles to make it easier to put into heaps and pick up. We have a tow behind time rake that we pull behind the ride on now and again that keeps the moss at bay somewhat. Comes flat packed and you weight it down with a couple of 4” blocks. If the moss that you pull up is not too heavy and gets a chance then you can lift it with the roads on mower.

Unfortunately, I've it done already with the stuff which requires the dead moss to be raked out :(
I'll definitely try the stuff that turns the moss into fertiliser and requires no raking out next time

That’s some difference once you get rid of the moss looking good
