You could ask at your local plant hire company,

Thank you all very much for your helpful responses.

It's an Onan Generator.

The gas generators are handy if you want someone to move away from your van. They stink

So that's why people are moving away from us.

I thought it was my aftershave!

RV service

My Four Winds Hurricane has a Onan generator 5.5 there is very little to servicing it as it has no oil filter, i just change the oil, i wonder where the time goes but now 14 years old and no issues, Hope you are enjoying the RV they are so different to euro vans with many advantages and it has to be said disadvantages, over the time i have had the RV i have made a lot of changes, latest was to fit a 5 kw Chinese heater, it makes a big difference to the comfort in the RV as you know the stop start of the furnace isn't ideal. and the continuous heat is nice, wish I had done it years ago, it is also easy to run, the RV heater uses a lot of battery power and gas although I fitted a much larger LPG tank to reduce visits to refill, RVs are designed to be in campsites with a over night stop in between, however we are rarely in a campsite hence the many alterations to the RV to accommodate out style of use . Enjoy

That's great to know.

Are you based North or South?

This is such a drastic change for us!

The guys we bought it off didn't run through everything, so it's a bit trial and error.

Generator was only running for about a minute then it stopped. This morning I went to the lpg tank and opened a valve fully and the Generator is now running like a dream!

I assume that was the lpg supply to the Generator that was restricted and now its sorted. I hope!

Can I ask how often you change the Generator oil please? There is just under 900 running hours on the clock.

Can you tell me a bit more about the heater you mentioned and where they can be purchased and fitted from please?

Sorry for picking your brains so much, but appreciate all the guidance you can give.

Thanks.

Generator

I know what its like, I was there and ended doing everything my self as so few here understand how rvs work they work completely different to euro Van's. After leaving it in for a service i decided I could do better myself.
I'll help you anyway I can. There us a drain bung on the bottom if my generator if you get underneath you should see it if it is the same as mine. There is a hole in the outer casing and the drain bung is there. There is a filler and level bung on the front of the generator. Americans don't change things much so it is possibly the same.
I took a bit of time to suss out if and how to install the heater. If you want I can let you see what I did and how it works if you want. The initial cost was about £120 it has a 15 litre tank I bought it on Ebay and it took me about a month to figure a plan on where to fit it, but I made several changes so had extra costs on top probably ended up costing about £200 and I fitted myself as I wanted to do it a different way to the normal instruction due to where I wanted to mount it and how I wanted it to work. So needed a longer exhaust and heater ducting. All worked out well so now happy with it. I'm in Co Antrim

Thanks for that Willie.

I will have a closer nosey at the Generator as I have an estimate of £200 plus vat and that seems a little pricey for a drop of oil!
