Remove / Unglue Reversing Camera

Hi Guys

My reversing camera failed. The old one is glued in place, looks like clear RTV. It's well stuck. Any suggestions to free it up without damaging / cracking the surrounding area ? Thanks, Mike

Try WD40, loads of it, it breaks down glue without doing any harm.

thanks Ally, that helped. They had used a lot of sealant instead of the gasket. I had to pull the camera out of the holding, then i cut away as much excess as possible, then used the wd40 (a lot). Eventually it came off with minimal damage. Unfortunately, I should not have trusted my 'gut feel' troubleshooting skills, as it turns out the camera itself is not faulty. Now troubleshooting the wiring in case of a loose connection.

Yeah! Neighbour had triplets a couple years ago and her husband asked her how did that happen and she replied I remember it well, it was the night we used the 3 in1 lube. Jesus it was a good job we didn’t use the WD40 he shouted 😄

Dental floss works well for cutting stuff off oddly shaped surfaces.
