How to black out windows

Hi,
In our van conversion we have quite a few windows we need to black out and just wondering what are the best ways to do it. I've heard there is a spray on method, a stick on and companies who will do it for you.
Also, I wonder is the black out just like black out windows in a car or can they be done to also block out light for sleeping?
A bit clueless on this Im afraid.
many thanks for your help!

Have you considered the amount of heat that will be lost through the glass. I’m assuming you still have the original windows. You could get a thermal screen for each window that you remove in the morning and then enjoy the views.

Unless you're very confident of doing it yourself, you would be better off getting a company to do it. The end result is more privacy, except at night when your habitation lights are on so blinds are necessary. There is less available daylight inside, but nowhere as bad as you might think, even on the very dark limousine shades. And you won't be able to see out your windows beyond dusk. The bottom line is yes, you still need blinds.

Have you considered getting steel or glass fibre panels fitted in place of the glass, this option would also help take the converted mini-bus look from the vehicle and also give more internal wall space.

That would be my way of thinking also you could then insulate then and incorporate shelving or cupboards on the inside

I converted a few 7 seater jeeps in the past to commercial by cutting out metal sheet the size of the inside of the window, painted the sheet facing out in a satin black and stick it to the glass with wurths bond and seal, it looked perfect and was much more secure than only glass and didn't need blinds inside.

I was assuming the poster wanted to keep the use of the windows. 🤷‍♂️

Maybe you are right Jason, Im not sure but I recon you would need to cover some of them or you would have no storage lockers, wardrobe or maybe shower unless you are an exhibitionist

Ah it’s a minibus. Yep, I think you would want to block and insulate a few of those windows alright. But what do I know 🤷‍♂️

You could be on to something David. I think some AI up in the cloud has been analyzing my data and has decided which gender I should be assigned to 😂.
