Hi all, recently we bought our first camper, after living in Australia for the 15 years and owning an offroad camper trailer we decided it was time to explore Ireland and the rest of the UK and Europe, firstly we couldn't be more happy with a first campervan, it has a few minor issues to fix but other than that its ready to go.

I have an issue with the fan speed selection, it will only work on max speed, I purchased a resistor and a switch and it still has an issue, would anyone have a wiring diagram for this, I have 12v on grey with red trace on first terminal on switch, when I turn switch nothing happens on any of the other terminals, when I go to max speed I have no voltage on grey wire?
be good to get a diagram so I know what's what, all plugs and cables look good, no sign of a hot join or burnt wiring.

Cheers
Paul

On reading posts on a different forum I think you may need something like this but this one is for a pre 1993 model,

Get in touch with the seller preferably by phone, they are ever so helpful.

Hi, Would this not be the same as the resistor on the bottom of heater fan box that I already changed ?
If not where on a 2004 Ducato would this be located?

I’m sorry I’ve no idea, I just thought that the post on other forum had similarities to your issue and posted accordingly to try and help.

You’ve replaced the resistor?
There is a couple that’ll fit, but not all work properly...... if you’ve fitted the one with the protection diode at the end, similar as the one shown on the photo then a simple test you can perform to eliminate the problem.
The two ends where the diode attaches, solder a copper wire across those, bridge the diode making a circuit...... so in effect you are completing a circuit. If it works then you’ve fitted the wrong resistor pack.
Some of the heaters have different polarity, if you’ve fitted a resister of the opposite type (they’ll fit, but not interchangeable... ones green and others black) you’ll have blown the diode and will have no speeds except #4 which does not utilise the diode.
If all works you have 2 options.... replace the resistor pack with the proper one or leave the repair as it is ! ...... the other pack simply has a low value resistor in place of the diode !
Hope this helps, report back with your results.

I had the same problem on my Rapido which has a 2005 FIAT Ducato base vehicle. The heater fan speed resistor packed in and I only had speed 4, 1,2,&3 were gone.
I got ONE OF THESE which sorted the problem. I got mine from a main dealer as I was travelling in France at the time.
It's the same unit for vehicles without aircon and those with aircon BUT it's a different unit for vehicles with automatic climate control. Many other FIAT and other vehicles share the same unit.
The unit is easily reached, it's below the glove box (LHD) or probably behind the steering column (RHD), it's held in place by one screw and a dowl.

Still no joy, I soldered a wire onto resistor, same results.

I will try and get a schematic to see what's going where, all wires have belled out ok, I have 12 v at switch and fan plug when relay kicks in at full speed, surely there cant be too much more in it. The relay In behind heater control working as it should, switching voltage

So after a bit of messing around and testing, I got a schematic off the Fiat owners forum , it was a huge help in working out what was what.
I found a little red 4 pin relay in drivers side panel , the one one locates on left ( LHD) the coil had gone in it.

I will try and put a pic up, currently it won't let me.

Thanks for the help and info
