Think it was Stuarty at our last meet mentioned he had a portable gas heater. Anyone else use one and can recommend a particular make. Might help by saving battery life when using the main heater off grid.

Forgot that you got one. This one is available on Amazon for £22 but it doesn’t look as sturdy as your one.

The one you posted is the type most are using in their vans. It's the gas cannisters you can get from BandM etc. Mine is camping Gaz type.

LOL, they are nowhere near as good and the cannisters don't last two hours.

Quite a few using them and no carbon monoxide alarm has went off yet. Don't leave it unnatended. I'd be more worried about damp as gas gives off a lot of moisture, but leave a window slightly open? :/

I got mine for sitting outside.

That's the one we use, pretty good wee thing, just crack a window a bit to stop condensation.

How long do those little cannisters last and how handy are they to source? Could be tempted but if theres too much faffing about maybe better to buy a heavy winter coat :D

Looks like 3 hrs per canister. On line price for a canister is anything between 90p and £2 depending on how many you buy. However I doubt they will post over the Irish Sea, so I need to check the price in the local Hardware store. Guessing they will be more like £2.99.

Would it be better for folk who have garages on their MH to carry a super ser with a proper large bottle of gas? Would last ages and be much cheaper.

Wee cannisters can usually be got in local bargain stores for about £3 for 4.

They don't last two hours in one of those fires. I get them posted from eBay as I use them in a camping stove to heat waxoyl(temporary setup), if the seller declares what they are they can't send them which has happened once.

They last about 1 hour on full blast.
4 for €10 in most pound shops

I googled Ally’s one a while back and there is an adapter hose available, so if using it in a awning you could couple to a outdoor connection on your Motorhome

With the Camping Gaz ones there might be more in that. Some of the cheap eBay ones don't last anytime.

Is there not a danger of these heaters producing carbon monoxide in the confined space of the van.

There’s no way I would use that inside. Brand new maybe there is no CO, what about in six months when it’s not burning so efficiently. Why take the chance

Gas ovens and hobs burn internally. What’s with that in this day and age of health and safety? I definitely keep my vents open running the gas oven in the camper and am sure to keep a CO alarm nearby.

I still wouldnt be happy using one inside. In my last house I had a gas fire that didnt have a chimney but scrubbed the exhaust gases through something like a catatylitic converter

Guys please be extra careful of this type of heater and especially Super Sers, one of them was directly responsible for Susies Mothers death from burns when the end of her dressing gown caught fire.

Thanks Stuarty. That is a much better looking unit than the ones on Fleabay. I agree with all the comments regarding safety but still think that having one of these for a little extra boost in the evening would be useful. Still looking.
