People with that kind of money won't want an electric car
I wouldn't agree with that. Why wouldn't they? They are quicker than the petrol versions.
Top gear recently tested a Tesla, it was quicker than it's petrol rivals, nothing came close except a mercedes and then it was only after 130mph that it could. Was only an aul standard Tesla, a wee cheap one
We have been driving a LEAF as the only family car since 2015. The current one has about twice the range of the 1st one and it would be very hard to move back to a fossil as a runaround. For the camper diesel with manual gears has now some sort of retro appeal, i.e. the driving experience is so different that it puts me to holiday mood. But on every trip once you leave the bigger roads I keep thinking how nice this would be to drive if it was an EV instead.
Once Sprinter etc get useful size batteries it will be possible to have a fully electric van without gas for cooking and hot water. Having 100+ kWh onboard would be plenty for pretty much everything: Our house typically uses about 6-10 kWh a day (excluding the LEAF) depending on how much oven and washing machine is used so say 50 kWh on the van would last week(s). The only exception is heating which will still need to use something else in cold climates. But a few hours day of 2kW heater would not be a problem.
The driving range however will be a challenge for a while still.
