JJust found a few photos of our first camper and first trip which took us to Athens. My friend is holding our son who is now 38. Our vans have changed quite a bit over the years but we enjoyed the adventure and craic. The second photo was taken in Yugoslavia. Shortly after that we came around a corner, ran into an avalanche and burst a tyre

I can hear the whistle from that aircooled 1600 😍

My Father had one of them with the small roundie lights, not a camper though,

I’ve said it a few times but that first journey was absolutely brilliant, we were young didn’t need much sleep and keen to see things. We had more incidents on that journey than we had since. My mate and I hot seated and drove through the night to get places.

Panda. I never knew the make. I think it might have been a Devon. It was unusual that it had Pullman seating that could be turned into 4 forward facing seats or 2 seats facing each other with a table in between. As max says the noise from the engine was something different

Sounds great Tommy.....Mine sounded like a B 52 bomber with the rusted exhaust!

That was a epic trip in those days Tommy without the support of Travel forums, wifi, sat nav etc. especially when traveling with young kids.

Yes maps and a flux gate compass. Athens was a nightmare with the different language. Everything that ever happened to us happened that holiday but it was an adventure, must relate a few stories sometime. Dont want to bore anyone
