Mobile Broad Band + Garmin Express updater

Last night set Garmin Express to up date my satnav this morning it had done very little after looking thru Q & A's came across this

Quote
Garmin's content delivery service can handle very fast Internet connections. The download speed of new content is limited to the download speed of the Internet connection. DSL, Cable, or other high-speed Internet connections are recommended. Mobile broadband (such as MiFi, AirCard, or cell phone tethering), satellite, fixed wireless, and dial-up Internet connections are not supported.

So after several months we've found the first snag with our mobile broadband

Sounds to me they are blocking them. I would think as they are not as stable they block them as it could cause errors that would fail the download and render the satnav having to go back for repair, just a thought.
Or they could be playing big brother and trying not be responsible for someone's huge bill.

A connection is a connection, if they ain't blocking it then it should download, the fact they state those connections on their website, well.......

Is your connection with Three? Ask them using their online chat, they might be more honest.

Well we tried 2 satnavs 1 twice and when connected said 15 hrs download so left it over night and in morning it still said 11 hrs this happened 3 times. So found above quote in FAQ's. A friend allowed me access to his broadband so done both today in less than 4 hrs.
Shan't bother with 3 as their unlikely to agree their BB isn't up to the job but we've had no complaints with it except this.

When out and about on 3G/4G/4G+ (not WiFi), go to your Google search app, type "speed test". A third party (M-Lab; affiliations with Google) button will become available "RUN SPEED TEST". Run the test to check your current speed. If you're getting 10Mb/s downloads or above, that should be fast enough for any updates. Most of the All You Can Eat data plans limit your speed to 2Mb/s.

Only when roaming. Although that should be a thing of the past.
