Hi I’m new to this site and to motorhoming, so hi folks. We are touring in our Burstner (3m high 2.3m wide 6.5m long) and are thinking of driving through Sally Gap Co Wicklow. Is it passable in a motorhome?
Many thanks.

Yes it's possible, I've done it in a similar van, it's a road built on bog so not as smooth as a baby's bum and some parts are narrow just take your time and enjoy the spectacular scenery, what direction are you travelling in to get there?

Yeah, I don't recommend doing the gap of dunloe on anything wider than a donkey...

We drove it in the car a couple of years ago and it was a constant traffic jam of jaunting carts, mini busses and self-righteous hillwalkers that believed motorised vehicles had NO rights to drive on their road!

No problem it's an old military road. I have used it regularly in a 5-ton truck. Its a nicer drive doing it from Dublin heading to Laragh. there is also an Aire on the Glenmalure road. don't try and go past the Hotel in Glendalough at weekends in a motorhome.

Thanks for the top tips. We are travelling to Dublin port from Roundwood so thought we’d take a scenic route (with plenty of spare time for our ferry).
Cheers all.

Good views over Dublin City on the way down in that direction, you should even be able to see if the ferry has docked 😁
