I rarely use a hose anymore for filling the water tank, I find that it takes no time to fill it with a watering can and don’t have the hassle of emptying the hose and trying to dry it off before rolling it up for storage again. Also you know how much you have in it just like that meter.

I use a hose with a quick coupler on each end, with a joiner clipped to one end. When I’m finished I clip the ends together after rolling it up. No water spilling and it’s sealed clean for the next use

Ditto.
Exactly the same.
I Give the hose a quick flush thru before refilling.

Ditto. I hang my hose up over two hooks so when coiling it slowly it drains off most and then clip the ends together.
But I really don't understand this topic, when the tank is low I fill it until its full again. I'm really not interested in how much I put in there.
Am I missing something?
