Why do you insist that it wants your location or why that matters? intrigued. Especially as I explained it another topic. You can use it with your location turned off.

Paid for, fantastic app, I love the sat nav function giving you the use of Google or Apple maps.

Paid of course. I just filter out the LPG icon as I don’t have refillable bottles. Makes it easier to spot the new aires, poi’s and pub stops.

Paid version. Use it regularly. Been to several new locations this year. How can it give you directions if it does not have your location.

I can give you directions to Carnsore Point or Dick's field without knowing where you are. I can't understand why a lot of aps need / want access to your location,contacts, photos, camera and loads of other stuff before you can install them. When the information was on the old Craic map it was easy find a POI but the map did not need access to your location.

MPI does NOT need access to anything, it doesn't access permission for your camera, your photos, your contacts NOTHING! NOTHING NOTHING! It doesnt require a login, you dont need to register - NOTHING.

Are we clear so far? :) NOTHING

It doesn't need your location, if you want to use the Satnav capabilities of it, then the satnav app needs your location for obvious reasons, not the MPI App. The Satnav App is not owned by MPI, it is third party software. You don't need to have satnav apps installed for the MPI App to load and view the map.

The App loads a Map the way the old craic map loaded, nothing is different except it has other much better functions in a handy App.

I don't often relate to 'millenials', their expectations of the world, and workplace. But technology I have to say - have all my cookies, have all my info - my location - everything! I really couldn't care, cause it just makes the software more personalised to me/ easier to use etc.
I'm probably technically owned by the Chinese government, but its not on my 'things to be worried about' list 😂

I have about 20 of them at the moment. Only buy one when i'm in that area. Mostly use them in conjunction with a compass when we are Mountain walking/Climbing, when a fog or mist covered the mountain. They have saved me several times coming down from a Mountain. :up:

I Also find them very good for normal navigation. :-)

Yes. Head for the South East, (not the Sunny South East), and the N25 between Youghal and Dungarvan. Turn on to the R673 and head for Ardmore. If you are coming from the Dungarvan side you will pass Ardmore GAA Club and Cush Bed and Breakfast on your left. 50 M after the B&B take the lane on the left straight towards the sea and Dick's field. If you are coming from the Youghal side drive into Ardmore and keep left as you enter the village, staying on the R673. Shipmates chipper, (excellent succulent cod), will be on your left as you start to exit the village and about 650M further on is the entrance to Dick's field. According to my phone the app uses the device's location and files such as images,videos. Maybe I'm just becoming too much of a luddite and need to go to a few more Craic meets where you can beat the information into me. :lol: :lol:

Exactly, I never leave home without them, plenty of information and you can see where you're going all you have to do is be able to read the map. If your brain can't handle more than pressing a button they may not be for you. :lol:

I cant see any problems with an app asking for my location, I just decline and carry on. I never turn on the location on my phone ,when I look for directions on the app ,it transfers to google maps and then asked me activate the location ,I click no thanks, it then asked to select a starting point. I always give a point near the destination, as I basically know how to get to every main town and county in this country.
