The enemy and myself where looking at maps of waterways ireland and thinking it would be nice to follow the waterways down through Ireland stopping of here and there ,has anyone ever done this ,starting at belleck and following the rivers and canals the whole way to limerick, would it be worth getting together with waterways ireland to promote a joint venture between us ,just an idea ,anyone have views on this good or negative,I’m sure there are some lovely spots to park and loads of pubs and restaurants which we could promote 👍

You should find most, if not all, of them on the App. It's been a few years since an agreement was made that Motorhomers could have shared use of the Marinas along with the boats. Plenty of Motorhome owners use them and we have done quite a few of them.

Get yourself a waterways Ireland card and you can use the toilets, showers etc on the Marinas that have those facilities.

Robert. have a look at the Barrow way it splits off from the canal at Monasterevin and follows the river down to Newross and into the sea at the Hook, there are some nice villages and stops along the way and towpath walks.

no in some place going into the villages/towns the roads follow the river. most will have a bridge over the river in the middle of the town, Have a look at this link and then Google Maps gives you an idea.

we have parked up, walked the path say North in the morning South in the afternoon, Dinner /few pints then move off next morning to the next stage. and repeat.

Tempting it may be but don't park beside the boats, that area is for boaters, park back and give them room. In Shannon Harbour park here https://www.google.ie/maps/@53…312!8i6656 or on the far side of the canal. Some lovely spots, with a bit of common sense we'll be enjoying them for many years to come.
