Why so few up to date reviews on the App?

I've been checking the App of late looking for new (to us) places to visit. I'm wondering why there are so few up to date reviews on the app.

I was in Norman View last weekend and very few vans there but one chap had made his way there from Switzerland in a very nice 4x4 Sprinter.

We owe it to the people who provide these services to promote their site for others to see.

We also owe it to app users to let them know the odd one to avoid.

I add several every day, so they do come on regularly. It's like anything, people mostly leave reviews when they have a bad experience.

The last one for Norman View was 5th May 2019, that's pretty up to date?

I'm talking about in general.

The recent Norman View one was what brought up there because it was up to date.

Yeah

I add them every day, always a surge after a bank holiday or an event etc, but like i said above, some people are more inclined to leave a review if they have had a bad time. There are thousands on it, but more are left for the more popular spots.

I suppose it's like forum posters or even FB posters, there are a minority that post all the time but the majority say very little. Some people are happy to be led by reading others.

Also something else that should get us more reviews. There is a huge update coming for iOS users of the App. I know a lot are waiting on the "Add a POI" option on iOS and that will be added, we are hoping this month.

That’s good it is coming to the iPhone. Eamonn has a bit of a point. I think lots of users head first for the forums which is great, but end up giving the app reviews a second thought. The app should be like our TripAdvisor. If we are on the road considering a stopover, it should be more convenient to reach for the app, find the P.O.I. , and look for the reviews, rather than search forums.

I have tried to add reviews on a few occasions but keep getting a message about a working email. Tend to give up at that stage. I know there has been solutions to this posted but cant get it to work! Iphone X

I'm sure someone with an iOS device can advise you, it should be very easy.

I am guilty of sometime not leaving a review. I find that I look at previous reviews and tend not want to repeat what other reviewers have already said. However, you make a fair point Eamonn. Something to watch in future.

Go to
Settings
Accounts and passwords
Tap the account you want the email to come from
Make sure the “mail” slider is on

Sounds like you’ve not assigned an account to handle the email for the app.

I added a review and it was live the next day, found it very straightforward.

I must admit I tend to submit details of new spots a lot more than I review current ones. It's important to keep the reviews current as nearby facilities bars, restaurants and shops open and close regularly and often it's these things I'd be as much interested in as the spot itself when we're travelling around.

I also like to see the cost, if relevant. Also don’t add to a recent review that I would agree with. No point being repetitive.

I don't agree. If there has been a recent review that you agree with you can add "Everything XXXX said but better". It's nice to see that a site is popular and being visited.

How about a "Like" function where you don't have to add a review but lets others know some one had been there recently and liked it. Probably will drive the developer mad.

Great post as it's prompted me to add the odd new Poi and review several places we've stayed in over the last few months. Will review more over the next few days.
I love to see up to date reviews as it shows it's still possible to stay there and that local information is current. There are a few pois with no actual reviews/commentary so I often wonder if they're still open.

Keep reviewing folks- especially the less frequented places.

Believe it or not I'm actually guilty myself. I add a lot of new POIs when I am out and about but not so many reviews. I promise to do better :)

Sometimes you come across a POI that says something like ‘quite spot at end of slipway. We did stay in the end’. It would be nice if there was a way to separate POIs into ones that involved overnight parking and ones that didn’t.

Been very set in my ways going to the same spots this last few years. This has put me in the notion to pull the app back out an discover somewhere new I think
