You need saoirview Robert.
You should have had sound but no picture.... I presume you did a new scan down south .

Different broadcast format in ROI that requires a mpeg 4 capable TV

You'll need a saorview box or an mpeg 4 compatible box Saorview is ROI freeview of ROI tv stations

Check your tv settings and see if it is possible to change the country from UK to Ireland. Then scan the channels.

I have saorview built into my 12v Cello tv out of the box. I used at the nw200 at the weekend and had well over 100 channels appeared and I got the same at Banbridge when I stopped off for a bit on the way home. I do tend to get far less channels with it when further south like Dublin or so.

All I use is a £5 book market type digital aerial off eBay that I stick into the inside of the dinette window. Just need to retune each time you move but that takes 2 mins. I use the UK settings each time so maybe I need to use the Ireland option if there is one. Definitely shows a few other countries as options inc France so Ireland must be there somewhere.

Hi all new here. I was out playing in the camper and decided to get my Avtek tv up in running. Got a boosted arial form marine shop in Howth.
No what I discovered is the first scan I got bbc and RTÉ radio. No RTÉ tv and see bbc Wales.
When I first turned it on there was RTÉ and RTÉ +1 RTÉ now. So I assumed it had ran irish tv before .
I could not get it since or bbc
I rotated the arioal to all directions and rescaned. 7 times and never see bbc again from wales in on Greystones.
Can Any one tell me what’s next ?
Do I need the tv upgrade to mpeg4 or a saorview card
Why could I only get RTÉ radio
The RTÉ disappeared off the EPG
Did the weather change, why I could not see BBC ever since ?

Thank you I know it’s long speel but I’m lost. Any input work be great .

you need a Saorview box to go with your aerial unless the tv has an inbuilt box

If it's an older Avtex it won't be Mpeg4, so not compatible with Saorview. Easiest option is as eirebus says.

AFAIK Avtek stuff only got MPEG4 built in a few years ago, long after the technology was adopted for Saorview.
If you have one of those older units you need to consign it to the skip or get a Saorview set-top box. Alternatively, buy something LIKE THIS

Can also recommend this 24inch 12v tv.....Excellent and does satellite, soarview and freeview...just connect to tv aerial
https://powercity.ie/product/2419V12

That’s the one I’m after buying John.
It’s excellent. Good quality picture, good sound.
12v lead included as well as 240v adaptor.
Full smart TV, have Netflix/YouTube etc on it.
Perfect on Satellite with built in satellite tuner.
Absolutely recommended.

I bought mine from vision-sales direct in Lisburn £165.00. Guy there called Richard Houston. Tel: 0044 28 92674120. Can recommend.

Same story - bought my camper in from the UK last October and had an AvTex. Could tune and hear but not see Irish channels. Sold for €50(it had a DVD player as well!!) and bought a Cello. Does everything - reckon could even be used as a solar panel it does so much!!

Maybe this is a stupid suggestion, but hey ho. When you press the source button, which source is highlighted? If it is on Satellite you'll only get satellite if you have a receiver of some sort. If it says digital, you'll need the corresponding aerial. There should be two different aerial ports on the left hand side.
Stay safe, and watch the telly.
