How many spaces in the 'official' site. Going to try it in a couple of weeks.

There are 4 bays in Castle Park, but are shared with other vehicles, so the best plan is to arrive in the evening when cars have departed. The council have not erected signage yet. The height barriers have not yet been put in place at Downs road or Glen river. The holes for the posts have been dug so I expect that when the barriers go in people will be more likely to use Castle Park, especially as the weather improves. The other car park to use is the Rock Pool car park just 100 metres beyond the Glen River.

My biggest fear now is that having marked bays available that too many vans will try to stay at Castle Park and create a Donaghadee. Gavster and I are asking for several locations where vans can park to reduce this risk.

Does that refer to Monday to Friday 8am - 6:30pm?

So a car could be ticketed if it was parked there after 6.30pm any night or any time on a Saturday or Sunday?

In theory a car could be ticketed. In theory a Motorhome could be ticketed if it stayed more than 12 hours. In practice neither will be likely to happen.
The provision of the bays is that of shared parking, as the council officer was expected to maintain the same number of parking spaces for cars in that park. The 6.30 end time for cars is an ‘encouragement’ to cars to vacate the bays to allow Motorhomes in for the night. Once you have obtained a spot, then you have possession for the duration of your stay. It is unlikely that the 12 hour limit (which is a long established bylaw applicable to all vehicles) will be enforced unless people tear the arse out of it or start acting like it was a campsite. We are selling the idea that a Motorhome will not stay for more than 48 hours and would hope to ask for an amendment in the by law at some point in the future.
Don’t forget, the council are also tolerant of a similar parking regime at the Rock pool car park at the south end of the town.
