12 volt sockets

I’m having a problem with the 12 volt power sockets in the van. These are the ones run from the engine when switched on. The ones in the habitation area seem ok When I plug In my phone or sat nav the devices seem to be charging then not charging. The devices make an on off noise all the time. Any one got any thoughts. I’m near the end of my holiday so no big problem

if using a car type charger they may not be making a good circuit, rub a green scouring pad around the inside of the socket to clean off any dirt/corrosion and see if that helps, just make sure its a dry scourer!

For a fiver, replace the socket.
Over time, they do lose their shape and lose their grip on a charger.
The only thing is that you may have to change the crimp ends on the wires.
Always negative to the outer case and positive to the inside centre.

Martin was it easy enough to do. Would like to have them in the van the cigarette type are a pain. Do you have a link for supplier?

Yes that's the company. Also if you Google search 12volt power points, you will get eBay links also.

Fitting can be done by replacing the cigarette lighter. I drilled a hole on each side of the dome dash cover above the instrument panel on my sprinter and linked the power supply from the CIG socket. I'll post a photo later.
I don't like plugging things into the CIG socket the cabling is always in the way also a cool box plugged into my Peugeot 307van fried the ignition switch in about 2 hrs .

I got mine off amazon and replaced one in the cab and added additional ones in the hab area, only thing I would say is the ones with the single blue led light are annoying if beside a bed, the ones with the illuminated lettering are much easier on the eye

Hope this gives you an idea how I have fitted them.

The ones with the blue light are a pain but have a cover when not in use ( got them by mistake lost the will to live when ordering so just pressed send.)
Anyway this is them in place they do reflect on the windscreen, but I don't mind when they catch my eye I check my speed you all know why. :D

A small piece of black insulating tape to cover the blue light did the trick for me

Just get them with no lights or a colour like you like.
