I don’t own either of these chargers and don’t know which one to recommend. Out of curiosity, what is your onboard charger you want to replace? And do you have solar?

On board charger is 30 years old, not sure of what make, I would think the technology has improved since then? I have solar but would like to be able to charge them at home in the winter on EHU.

I ripped out an old Zig charger from mine for the very same reason. Not a true charger, more of a float voltage supply, never capable of fully charging a battery. I think you’ll do well with one of those CTEKs or Victrons.

Btw, Zig X3 for sale if anyone interested. The Ziggys still seem to command a pretty penny in certain Caravan circles, I don’t know why.

While I dont have one fitted to the motorhome, I have a Ctek mxs7.0 charger which I use for the cars/motorbike/motorhome both cab and leisure, its an excellent charger and I think it has helped keep the leisure batteries going after 4 years with a twice yearly condition.

I've paused for thought. Going to fit another solar panel and a better regulator first to try.

That might not be a bad strategy. Adding more solar will only increase the amount of time you can spend off-grid before needing to plugin.
