As everyone has heard or seen the Seabourne Ramsgate Ferry Contract, awarded in the event of a no deal Britexit, Has been cancelled because their Irish backer pulled out . This backer has been named as Arklow Shipping, I know they run merchant deep sea and coastal craft but never Ferries so where were they going to get ships from as Seabourne are freight forwarders didnt have anything shipwise not even a rowing boat. Can anybody enlight on to this 13.8 million fiasco.

It's quiet simple, just another scheme like Irish Water, Eir Code, VRT, re-flagging ships, expirey of DOE test dates and so on and so on. Easy money and jobs for the boys and the rest of ye keep your heads down and your mouths shut. <_<

The port of Ramsgate has very small port facilities and has silted up, so, with the best will in the world was never going to accommodate large ferries.

I'm sure the people of Ramsgate thought they were either onto a winner, or wondered WTF? No media stories from the locals though, eh! Not newsworthy...

A great statement from a local councillor.
" The DfT persuaded the council to keep it open, claiming that talks with Seaborne were at an “advanced stage”, according to Paul Messenger, a local Conservative councillor.

He said the port was costing about £2m a year: “That’s why we haven’t got any road sweepers, that’s why we haven’t got any public lavatories .”

It would be funny ,if it wasn't so sad.
