Anyone else watching George Clarke on Channel 4. This series he's building a campervan. Love this show, some great ideas.

It's a very old transit. On for a couple more weeks, they are still at the ideas stage with cantilevered extending sides. Will be interesting to see what they come up with. I do think they will have no chance of parking it in a standard touring pitch! (Without paying extra)😂

I think it's a mk1 transit base which can take 1.5 ton body etc alot of restoration work and invention to be done

Yeah, I saw it. It'll be an interesting project.

They looked at the Tenfold engineering design as an example.

It takes the term "slideout" to a whole new level!

A very open plan setup. It is better suited as a pop up office for trade shows etc.
With the swinging end walls, it leaves the setup very difficult to place fixed furniture/appliances that is needed for a useful motorhome.

I love the show and watched it last night. The Transit is an exercise in clever design but I fear it will be impractical and unsuitable as a camper. As someone said above, I can see few campsites accepting such massive foldouts and above all - when folded the interior would be unusable as it will be filled with the bed and other stuff. So no roadside stops for lunch or siestas on long drives.
Entertaining but just a show piece and in any case a knackered old 2ltr V4 petrol would struggle to lug all the stuff they will put on this. Fun but futile.

Love the subject and as long as I watch it with the sound turned off it's good. His voice and his faked excitement and over acting drives me mad.

You better not meet the RTE version, Mr Dermot Bannon. He can do a sissy fit better than anyone.

I was impressed by the cab restoration. As for the back half, well, I guess it was a nice "Proof of Concept" project for someone... Not at all practical though.

:D
