At the moment a lot of sellers on Amazon.co.uk say they won’t ship to Ireland which I assume is another way of saying that they won’t sell to me because of where I live. Will this be gone now so. I’m ignoring Brexit implications for the moment!

That can only be good..... unless they up the shipping so high, that it’s not feasible to purchase.
Somehow I think that’s the road they will go down, and we will be back to square one

The very same thing struck me and I went into Amazon last night, Checked a few items and didn’t find anything that didn’t ship to Ireland.

What’s to stop sellers outside the State from making the cost of shipping so expensive that it would not be economical to buy from them thus giving the same end result.

I wish this would be the case, but I don't think so. This is not a case of them not accepting your Irish card, they just won't ship to Ireland as explained above where it's very difficult to track packages, stuff passes from one carrier to another one and that's often not as smooth as you'd like.

For the sellers, I see this being a nightmare with customers asking for tracking, updates, etc constantly.

So yeah... fingers crossed it will fix it, but I don't think so and I do understand the reasons behind it.

Cheers,
Rami

This is good news and long overdue, often times it's just because sellers have not even considered the possibility of customers existing in other countries.

Some things will continue to be unavailable due to specific shipping requirements. Try ordering a lithium ion battery pack from any UK site and you'll almost universally get a we cannot ship outside of mainland Britain message. Parcel motel doesn't work either as shipping to NI is a no go.

In an entirely unrelated matter, did you know that the An Post Address Pal service has a mainland UK address as part of their service

Absolutely useless at this time of year. They keep redirecting my shipments to a sports club with limited access.

A delivery of mine arrived in their Dublin depot on 30/11 , I was charged same day ,still no delivery details and I need the part to pass the CVRT

If your not in a rush, it may take an extra few days sometimes. I use them all the time, it's great when the supplier is offering free UK delivery

The lithium battery thing I found was on Amazon not wanting to ship, but the same item on Ebay will ship to NI.

The one thing about online sellers especially Ebay is "we use Royal Mail" only to charge an extra £10-£15 to NI when in reality its costs no extra, other couriers yes it does but NOT Royal Mail!!!!

Rant over

I have had numerous lithium batteries delivered down south from eBay and Amazon. At a cost though. No free delivery
