Nobody know's, It's all still a complete mess with no clear direction. If it were me living up North, I'd be applying for an Irish passport.

Doubt it will make any difference for those going on ‘normal’ holidays.

May be some impact on those who stay for more than 90days but even that I think will not be that significant.

Extra business in the direct Ireland France route as truckers avoid the hassle of transiting through two GB ports shoud benifit the economies of scale and help reduce fares. The new huge ferries due to come into service should a also help to keep fares down.
I hope 🙄🤞

If Brexit takes place and at the moment it is 50/50, people who ship out of UK ports to Europe would be under more scrutiny and pet laws could change. People who use Southern Irish ports would have no change except those holding non EU passports who would take more time to transit border controls. If britexit does come into existence does it mean that people with pets crossing the border will need pet passports ?

erm... what happened to 'no political posts' then! Has a certain person succumbed to temptation? 😜

As far as u.k passports go I think they have to be within 6 months of expiring from date of entry. You can visit for 3 months without a visa...

Sorry I didn't realise 😇

Thing is about Brexit, it's not an Irish thing, the majority of people in NI voted to remain. It's GB that's dragging us out. So.... In that thinking... It's not Irish politics so it can be discussed.

On the other hand.. ....is a glove.

On the left hand... I've had a few drinks... But sure it's a craic meet 😇

It's a perfectly reasonable question and not political: it's practical.

Don't play out the arguments on here.

You have been warned mon braves.........ooops, soz.

Tbh I don’t know much about your passports, but I assume that you have British passports, just as we have Irish ones. I would just presume that they will be fine up until their expiry date, and that when you renew it, it would be the same except that their would be no European symbol on it...... maybe there isn’t now.
I can’t see it being that pernicious surely !!!
Then you never know

I suppose you have to add up all the costs and time involved. I only know the prices from Rosslare. A lot depends on where you are going in France.
Sorry for straying off topic there 😲😲

Ah yes, but if your destination is other than France, say, Germany or Greece, you're much better off going via landbridge to Dunkirk or Calais. I prefer Dunkirk, because it's nowhere near as busy.

Nobody knows the answer to this question yet but there could be large customs tailbacks going via GB routes

As I want to do the Normandy landings I was thinking from the south to Cherbourg but looking at Camperstop app there is a route from Dublin to Wales and then through GB and then to Cherbourg I’m sure the price of ferries will play a big part ,as quoted in past posts well not know till brexit happens

Last year I got IF Rosslare to roscoff in June for €401. I think Cherbourg was about €30 more. But I had booked well in advance. It would have cost us €350 to go Rosslare to Wales on the same dates

Robert probably not much help to your question
I booked in August 2017 for late may this year 2018.
Out Rosslare / Roscoff and Return Cherbourg / Rosslare early June.
The cost was € 367.20. I would expect to add another €100 or more for next year

On price alone it is cheaper to go direct to France from Ireland. I personally enjoy the time spent on boat sailing direct. It gives me time to enjoy my few pints and a good night's sleep before arrival in France.

once again our pl;ans have changed. Due to weddings and stags and prebooked concert tickets, we are now sailing in September, probably IF from rosslare to france.
Anyone know when IF sailing schedules are out, and is the 25% discount they gave out last year likely to be offered again?

The enemy doesn’t like the water unless it’s in her Pernod so we would be looking for a day crossing🛳

Why is the water better during the day??
If going IF from Rosslare to France, you will be traveling overnight anyway. The trip to roscoff leaves approx 4 pm and gets to roscoff the next morning approx 11 am

Just me and the enemy but the shorter the time we’re on the water the better for her ,it’s like people who are afraid to fly she doesn’t like the water,as for me the longer and the higher the seas I’m in my element love boats and sailing 🛳

Hilton , I was looking at Seatruck ,Warrenpoint to Heysham and then DFDS Newhaven to Dieppe , Ideal for The Invasion Beaches, in June next year and it worked out for 2 £400 return. This would avoid the Dover hold ups if there was problems.
