I have the Truck version of Sygic and i find it good. Putting in the height definitely works :-)

That said, It tries to take me down narrow lanes that the van can barely fit in even with the width set. I have one problem with it in that it currently shows 90 Kph on a 100Kph road but they know about it and say they will be fixed in the next update.

I have sygic truck/rv version too. Brilliant.
Auto updates, real time traffic when Wi-fi is enabled (worked brilliant around Seville and routed us away from congestion) and have not encountered any height problems with it.
Still, like all Satnav products it can throw a wobbly and want to take you on a road that you know is wrong.... not often, but it does occasionally.... probably tweeting the settings will help.
Brilliant product.

Have they updated the GUI for Android? Last time I tested it, it was like they just copy/pasted the iOS version into it and it looked and worked like crap.

I do have the car version of it and works great, it's a shame that you can't cross over the license from one to the other (I've asked already).

Yup, the computer based map is brand new as far as I know. I'll have to give the truck version another try, hopefully they updated it.

I do have the paid car version and it works great, great tool to have specially when traveling abroad.

Just to throw a spanner in the works but I find Google Maps on my phone much better. I know you can’t put in the dimensions of the vehicle but they update it more often than all the others. I put our house which is a new one and they have updated right away. If I put the address in on anything else I’m taken in the opposite direction. So I’ve started to use Google now.

Hi Jack, I totally agree with you about Google Maps. It is very accurate as it is using data from all devices to calculate delays and more accurate travel times. However, if you lose coverage then Google Maps stops working and that can happen fairly regularly. I tried using it offline but didnt find it as good.

Google maps has brought me down more byways and lane ways that I wouldn't go down on a bicycle. The highlight was a trip from Terryglass to Lough Boora where I met an articulated milk tanker on a dual cabbageway.

It's maps for me

You can do offline maps on Google Maps too, you just have to download the maps before hand when you have connection. Arguably, it's not as easy as just downloading the whole country as you would do with Sygic or other similar software but at the same time Google Maps would update much quicker as they said.

For the regular basis I do use Google Maps, but when doing tours Sygic is the way to go for me. Much easier to plan, share routes, etc

Couldn’t see myself ever using it so. I never plan ahead when on tour. Take each day as it comes, and follow the good weather

I used Sygic Truck for a while. It's no better than any of the other apps.
Even with Truck dimensions it stiĺl directs down unsuitable narrow roads.
Not worth the cost.

Works great here, avoids small roads and takes the lorry routes.

Guys. Sometime when you have a bit of time ditch the sat nav and use a real map. My missus navigated me throughout Europe for years before we bought one. Probably the only thing that we really rowed about. I still carry maps as I never really know exactly where I am in relation to the rest of the country

Why? 😁

Next you'll be asking me to buy a horse and remove the engine. 😁

Must'nt be any small roads up North!

Tried to bring me down a few sheep tracks even though I had bigger dimensions in than the actual size of the van.

I don't believe the data used on the maps to date, is sufficient to correctly allow for the size input in the app. It seems to get some of the routes right but can also get it badly wrong.

Does not always do what it says on the tin in my experience!!

You will need to put it on a device with it's own GPS system or it will eat into data allowance, I don't know how much it uses, some techie on here might help

I would think it’s the digital map data Pete. A hell of a lot of Southern Irelands data won’t be up to date.
Northern Ireland digital data much more up to date hence the better accuracy.
