No speedo

Speedo on my Fiat Daily is not working.
No speed and no mileage registered.

Cruise control which I fitted because it was already wired for it, is getting road speed from gearbox sender, so sender not the problem.
2 guys have looked at the clock and cant identify any problem.

Fiat 35S11
2.8 engine.
Year 2002.
Love this van. Lovely to drive.
And getting 33 mpg with cruise control.

Any ideas or suggestions guys.

Using waze phone app for road speed and directions.
Highly recommend it.

We had a similar sounding problem with a 2003 boxer based Motorhome a few years ago. Took it to loads of people who couldn't fix it before going to Joe's Auto Electrics in Carryduff.
He found the issue in 10minutes. I think it was a small drive within a cable connected to the gearbox. He ordered the part and fitted it the following week.
He was very helpful.
(Phone number 02890 817062)

As your profile doesn't say your location I am unsure if this will be close to you or not.

Usually it's just an issue with the speedo cable, easy enough to replace and you can find cheap alternatives on eBay. Just make sure you measure the existing cable.

Had to do it on mine and it was literally a 30' job

I have a feeling there is no cable on Kieran,s Van, I think he mentioned a Gearbox sender sending a signal to the Cruise Control, I might be wrong though.

HUD instead of regular speedo.

As you may have read my Speedo is not working.
If I fit a HUD that displays speed on the inside of the windscreen, getting its signal from the OBC port.
Would it pass Cvrt/ NCT test ? If I can't get the original one to work.

There's also Apps for your smartphone if you need one HERE
I preferred a straight view to HUD when I tried them some apps are switchable for either phone did run quite hot while using them

I was just going to ask ...."How do you imbed a link"?
Then your one went to Error.
I use an app at present.
"Waze" for speed and maps.
But will it pass NCT test ? Is it legal?
Or as previoys poster pointed out....How will they know? as long as I stay below the speed limit.
Waze....also beeps when entering or leaving a different speed limit section of road.

Leagel or not if the guy testing it don’t know he will cover his ass and take the easy option and just fail it I would think.

I am wondering if when you wired in your cruise control, did the signal from the gearbox get diverted from the speedo clock to the cruise controller instead.
Maybe the best course of action is to undo your wiring and put it back like before, and then see if your speedo works again.

Can't explain the error but when I first read your reply I tried it on my phone and got the same now at home on computer it is OK just points to Google Play

On the phone it is trying to open the Play App, the address is for the webpage, so it fails. Although I'd of thought it would of worked, a Google problem.

Thanks Malcolm.
The cruise control wiring connector is already in the generation 3 Daily van. Lying in behind the casing around the steering wheel.
Plug it it in.....No wiring to do.
Take off the wiper stalk and replace with the new one that has cruise control and wiper functions on it.
The Speedo was gone before I fitted the cruise control.

Thanks for your reply Malcolm.
Sorry for delay in my reply.
The Speedo was.nt working before I put in the cruise control.
I thought I would buy the cruise control and try it. If it did.nt work I could always sell it or hold it untill I got the Speedo working.
