Please check insurance renewals ,as a lady who took up an offer from Churchill Insurance to find when she had her policy delivered she was not covered in the European Union anymore and to apply for a green card to be covered for 90 days per annum. She phoned Radio Foyle who contacted Churchill and got it fully covered for the duration of the policy. But what then ?

I think the whole mess is a disaster for everyone. No winners in this that I can see, no matter which way you look at it

It is interesting to see all the likes to David's post are from the south.

It’s a very delicate topic, so probably best to let it be, now.

Agreed.
Best let it be, these things generally sort themselves out....

That was a quick assumption, I only read it this morning.

Folks, like the song says ,What will be ,will be. But please pay attention to your coverage on your insurance as it will be be too late when you need it, Insurance companies will try and extract as much profit as they can and will take advantage of changing situations. It will mostly affect people like myself who is UK based but spend much of my time in the republic crossing borders several times weekly .

As I see it, no one knows what it will all bring about, and not one of us can do anything to change it. It's a bit like suck the air in and wait. Remember all the hype about us joining in the first place?

I'm just a newbie so feel free to ignore me but.................

Not one single positive thing has come about, or appears on the horizon, as a result of our voting to leave the EU while the list of negatives (such as this problem with insurance, which is minor compared to most) grows daily.

It doesn't matter if you voted for or against as both sides were led by lying, self serving politicians and none of us realised what exactly we were getting into. Now we do and its a great big horlicks.

I'm guessing this topic is considered 'delicate' as there are people of differing opinions on here but its looking more and more likely we may have a second say on this issue. I for one think intellectual debate (particularly now we know the likely consequences) is not only healthy but an adult responsibility as we are going to bequeath this unholy mess on our kids.

The only thing sitting on the fence does is gives you a sore arse.

My statement on it being a delicate topic was based on Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland divide. Not on a remain or leave divide. Down here we have had no say on the matter, nor shall we if there is another vote. I’ll stick by my statement on that premise.
You are of course free to discuss it all you want to

Folks, I have to put my moderators hat on this topic, the one big rule we have is no politics so can we just stop the direction this going and get it back on track as it’s coming close to being locked down

Sorry Fat Controller and I totally get the wisdom of keeping politics out of clubs like this.

For the record, however, I wasn't making a political point but an economic one.

This issue is going to effect what motorhomes we can buy and how much we pay for them. It will effect the price of the gadgets we put in them to make us comfy, the parts we need to keep them running, the fuel we need to make them go, the insurance and paper work we need to travel freely and even the medical cover should we fall ill on those travels.

I personally couldn't give a fiddlers about North South politics but Brexit threatens the biggest change to motor-homing since the first guy stuck his caravan on the back of a lorry and none of it is good.

In summary - keep an eye on your insurance documents ladies and gentlemen! If you notice a change that has been slipped in - always worth posting it as someone may fall foul through no real fault of their own! I got the same letter from Stuart’s re: Aviva, curious to see how the court date goes!

I got my renewal from Stuart's but without any cover letter as above. The cert just says Aviva Insurance Ltd Dublin . I have emailed them to see if there are any changes due to Brexit.

Fellow Travellers, my point was for us all, north and south to pay closer attention to the insurance documents , From I got a licence in 1954 you were covered for all Great Britain and Ireland automatically,In the near future if any person is driving any motor vehicle outside of their old areas,They need to make sure they are covered to the same values as we are entering a new layout in movement.

Stuart's came back to me and said that there were no changes to the policy with regards to Brexit.
