The curse of all motorhomes

Our 10 reg transit mh went through it crvt test some weeks ago and pass with flying colours.
However the tester remarked about some surface rust starting on the rear underside. That evening I had a crawl under for a look.
While most of the orginal floor pan and chassis was sealed, it stops at the beginning of the rear spring. After this point, some surface rust has started, but it is wiping away with your finger with the exception of a couple stone chips.
Yesterday I picked up 5 litre cano waxoyl in Halfords.
Tomorrow, the plan is to drop the spare wheel and grey tank out of the chassis and give it a good blast of the power washer.
I understand that the waxoyl needs to be warmed up before applying but what is the easiest way of putting it on?

As Ally has said... I had a mechanic do mine on my previous van (it’s a messy job to get done well/right). He would stand the Waxoyl in hot water with the lid open to improve viscosity but it also needs to be mixed well. It’s an end of season job or leave it a week or so (and a couple of short drives in between) before overnighting in it.

Make sure that the body/chassis is bone dry before applying.

Needn't be super clean but dry. Leave indoors for a couple of days in a well ventilated shed if you can.

Thanks lads. I am presuming that I need to mask off the brake discs etc, in case of over spray.

Never did and I have done a lot. Just be careful with the gun, you should be fine. I know a car mechanic once lent me his lift, he had moved everything out of his workshop for me to waxoyl, I couldn't understand why until he said what his employee does, what a mess! He was surprised I had made no mess at all.

Today I bit the bullet to wash under the mh.
Raising the mh by 6" inches, in order for me to fit under it was a bit of a challenge, but after finding various bricks and concrete blocks this was achieved.
About 20 mins or so, powerwashed the under side.

5 litres of waxoyl got, €35 in Halfords after axa discount.
Need to get a rattle can of primer and top coat ( ice white) . There are about a half dozen rust spots about the size of a euro coin that will need a bit of sanding back to bare metal. These small bits I can manage at home.
For the waxoyl, I can get the use of a pit for an evening from a mate.

Nice one, it's well worth doing I'd say!

Without a pit or lift, I would personally prefer to pay someone to do it. Looks like a messy job to do our of your back, surely it's possible but...

It is impossible to borrow the use of a pit or a lift for powerwashing because of the dirty nature.
The problem with the commercial car wash operators, is that the nossel of the washer is just randomly pointed underneath and the "wash" is a god bless you. One local guy has grid with upwards pointing jets for washing the underside of cars but his pressure was the same as a garden hose.
It was a messy job,but at least ,I know that the underside of the mh is as clean as possible.

All vehicles in the north have to be washed underneath for mot / psv so nearly every car wash has one here

I really rate the Bilt Hamber range of underbody rust converters and sealers.
If you can get rid of the rust by sanding and converting it and painting it with zinc rich paint then seal it with your choice of sealant then it will be a lot more effective.
